[end sys1] Playing Nail Dress Up with Glitter Sequins! Thursday, May 23, 2013 Yet another “must-do” when it comes to nail art is mastering the way of the glitter sequin or, as the Nailasaurus has coined, “the glequin”. I have been eyeing the 12 pack glitter sequins from Born Pretty for God knows how long and when I saw the rainbow of glittery hexagonal goodness, I could not wait to get started on some nail art! Each colour comes in its own little plastic twist-off jar and there are more than enough glequins in each pot for many many designs! It took me awhile to decide what to do for a manicure, but after a couple of “glittergasms”, i decided on some gold glequins on top of a gorgeous dark blue by Sally Hansen in Co-Bolt Blue and my favourite unknown light blue by Quo. I started by applying top coat to the nail I would be working on so that the glequins would have a sticky surface to adhere to. I then dipped a tooth pick into top coat and applied each glequin individually. These glequins were very fun to work with! My accent finger took about 20 minutes to do and talk about your vision going blurry after trying to line these things up! I even had to get out my little IKEA LED lamps for more lighting because I couldn’t see what I was doing, but the end results are so worth it. Working with glequins requires some patience and a steady hand, but the results are well worth it! If you’re willing to put in the time, glequins make a manicure look absolutely amazing! Make sure to put on lots of top coat afterwards because you don’t want them peeling off which is what happened with some of my nails on the first day. I applied top coat until the nail surface felt smooth and the glequins stayed in place for a couple of days. My next goal is to try the rainbow glequin mani!
