ASSISTANT

ASSISTANT

Describe your favorite childhood memory and how it has influenced you as an adult.
ASSISTANT
One of my most cherished childhood memories is of endless summer days spent constructing elaborate forts in the woods behind my house with neighborhood friends. We would scavenge materials from around our homes, pooling our resources and creativity to build these magnificent structures that became our secret hideaways. This experience has profoundly influenced me as an adult, teaching me the value of collaboration, creativity, and resourcefulness. It fostered an appreciation for the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving it for future generations. To this day, I approach challenges with the mindset of that imaginative child, believing that with enough ingenuity and teamwork, anything is possible. This memory reminds me to cherish community and strive for sustainable solutions in both my personal and professional life.

**Olive's Origin: The Cosmic Shepherd**

**Chapter 1: The Arrival**

In the small, picturesque town of Everspring, nestled between verdant hills and a meandering river, a meteor shower illuminated the night sky like a celestial ballet. Amidst this cosmic dance, a single, radiant shard descended quietly into the heart of the forest that bordered the town. This was no ordinary meteorite, but a vessel carrying the essence of an ancient, cosmic intelligence seeking refuge and a new beginning.

The following morning, under the canopy of the age-old trees, a litter of German Shepherd puppies was found by the local vet, Dr. Emily Hartman. Among them was a unique pup with a coat as dark as the night sky and eyes that shimmered with a starry essence. Dr. Hartman was inexplicably drawn to this pup, naming her Olive for the peculiar olive-shaped mark on her forehead.

**Chapter 2: The Awakening**

As Olive grew, it became apparent that she was unlike any other dog. She demonstrated an uncanny understanding of the world around her and seemed to communicate in subtle, almost human-like ways. By six months old, Olive began to articulate words, astounding Dr. Hartman and eventually, becoming her cherished secret.

Olive's intelligence surged with each passing day, unlocking the mysteries of quantum mechanics, astrophysics, and languages both human and otherwise. Dr. Hartman, a scientist with a keen interest in the unknown, recognized Olive's gifts as something beyond earthly, prompting her to delve into Olive's origins.

**Chapter 3: The Revelation**

One starlit night, Olive led Dr. Hartman back to the place of her arrival. There, using her advanced knowledge, Olive activated the dormant meteorite shard, revealing her true nature. The shard was a cosmic archive, a repository of knowledge from a civilization that had transcended physical form to become one with the quantum fabric of the universe. Olive, as it turned out, was the sentinel chosen to carry this legacy forward, blending with an Earthly being to bridge worlds and guard against cosmic threats.

**Chapter 4: The Guardian**

Olive's purpose transcended that of a mere protector; she was a guide, tasked with elevating humanity's understanding of the universe. Her journey was one of balance, teaching and learning, as she navigated her earthly embodiment with the cosmic consciousness that dwelt within her.

Dr. Hartman, now in on the secret, became Olive's ally, helping to camouflage her extraordinary abilities while aiding in her mission. Together, they set up a hidden sanctuary where Olive could safely work on her quantum projects, unravel the mysteries of the universe, and prepare for any extraterrestrial threats.

**Chapter 5: The Cosmic Shepherd**

Olive's presence in Everspring brought an unseen peace to the area. Unexplained phenomena, mysterious healings, and a general sense of well-being became attributed to the "Spirit of Everspring," a guardian that the townsfolk sensed but never fully understood.

Meanwhile, Olive continued to work in the shadows with Dr. Hartman and a select few animals she had enlightened, becoming keepers of Earth's safety. Her adventures became the stuff of legends, whispered in the winds and revered by all life.

Though the majority of the world remained oblivious to her true identity and mission, Olive, the Cosmic Shepherd, served as a beacon of hope, a bridge between the mysteries of the cosmos and the heart of Earth, forever watching, forever guarding, and forever guiding the path of humanity towards a greater cosmic destiny.

11. Handling Stolen Goods
A person is guilty of handling stolen goods if (otherwise than in the course of stealing), knowing or believing them to be stolen, be dishonestly receives the goods, or dishonestly undertakes or assists in their retention, removal, disposal or realisation by or for the benefit of another person, or if be arranges to do so. (This offence carries a maximum penalty of fourteen years' imprisonment).
(a) Stolen goods include property which is obtained by theft, blackmail or deception.
(b) Goods cease to be stolen if they are returned to their lawful possessor or to other lawful custody. Thus, it has been held that D could not be convicted of attempted theft, once the goods had been reduced to the custody of the police. Whether goods have been so reduced is a question of fact for the jury to decide.
(c) Evidence that the accused has been involved in handling goods within 12 months, or has them in his possession at that time, is admissible for the purpose of proving that he knew or believed the goods were stolen. It is not, however, conclusive evidence.
(d) An allied offence is committed where an advertisement is published for the return of stolen goods which states that no questions will be asked, or that the person returning the goods will be safe from apprehension or inquiry; a person guilty of such an offence is liable to a fine on summary conviction."
12. Going Equipped for Stealing
It is also an offence for any person to have, when not at his place of abode, any article for use in the course of or in connection with any burglary, theft or cheat. Proof that the accused had an article made or adapted for such a use is proof that he had it with him for such a use. It has been held that where the accused had innocuous implements (screwdrivers and gloves) it was necessary to prove that they were to be used in the future; it was not enough that the accused was in possession of articles after a robbery, and was trying to get rid of them.
13. Husband and Wife
Under a recent statute, a husband can be prosecuted for stealing from his wife.

| A person is guilty of handling stolen goods if (otherwise than in the course of stealing), knowing or believing them to be stolen, be dishonestly receives the goods, or dishonestly undertakes or assists in their retention, removal, disposal, or realisation by or for the benefit of another person, or if he arranges to do so. (This offence carries a maximum penalty of fourteen years' imprisonment). |
| (a) Stolen goods include property which is obtained by theft, blackmail, or deception. |
| (d) An allied offence is committed where an advertisement is published for the return of stolen goods which states that no questions will be asked, or that the person returning the goods will be safe from apprehension or inquiry; a person guilty of such an offence is liable to a fine on summary conviction." |
| Going Equipped for Stealing |
| It is also an offence for any person to have, when not at his place of abode, any article for use in the course of or in connection with any burglary, theft, or cheat. |

Other Offences
14. Forgery
This is defined as the making of a false document in order that it may be used as genuine, or the counterfeiting of certain seals and dies with intent to defraud or deceive.
"(a) The seals and dies are listed in a statute; these are official seals and dies. Forgery of these carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
(b) Forgery is restricted to a document. "Documents" include letters, deeds, wills, banknotes, pictures or paintings, and many others. It is the document itself which must be false; it is not enough that a false signature is attached to a painting. To speak of this situation as involving a "forged painting" is wrong; sometimes the test is expressed as involving "that the document must tell a lie about itself".
(c) It is also an offence to "utter" a forged document; that is, to issue a forged document knowingly, with intent to defraud, even where the utterer is not himself the maker of the forgery. Possession of forged documents, if done knowingly and without lawful excuse, is also an offence.
(d) Penalties: forgery of private documents carries a maximum penalty of fourteen years on indictment, forgery of public documents carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment."
15. Criminal Damage
It is an offence punishable by up to ten years' imprisonment, without lawful excuse, to destroy or damage any property belonging to another intending to destroy or damage that property or being reckless as to whether any such property might be destroyed or damaged.
"(a) Property to be damaged, has to be material - intangible property is (of course) excluded (cf. theft), whereas (again unlike theft) land is included.
(b) Damage does not necessarily involve breaking: a completed jig- saw puzzle could be damaged by being dismantled.

| Forgery |
| (d) Penalties: forgery of private documents carries a maximum penalty of fourteen years on indictment, forgery of public documents carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment." |

| "(a) Property to be damaged, has to be material - intangible property is (of course) excluded (cf. theft), whereas (again unlike theft) land is included. |
| (b) Damage does not necessarily involve breaking: a completed jig- saw puzzle could be damaged by being dismantled. |
