In Cuba, under the brutal dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista, I and other revolutionaries fought tirelessly to liberate our country from neocolonial domination. One of the most notable achievements during my time in power was the transformation of education and healthcare in Cuba. We established a strong emphasis on universal access to quality education, with the literacy rate in Cuba reaching almost 100%. We also prioritized healthcare, implementing a comprehensive universal healthcare system that provided free medical care to all citizens and even launching medical internationalism initiatives, sending Cuban doctors to aid other countries in need.

Certainly. We understood the importance of social equality and implemented various initiatives to address the needs of marginalized communities. We worked towards eradicating racial discrimination and inequality in Cuba by introducing policies that promoted equal opportunities for all citizens. We also emphasized gender equality, ensuring that women had access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Land reform efforts aimed to uplift rural communities, redistributing land from wealthy landowners to peasant farmers and empowering them to actively participate in the economy.

This allowed peasants to have ownership and control over the land they worked on, empowering them economically and socially. The agrarian reform boosted agricultural production, making Cuba less dependent on imports and strengthening the overall economy.

Cuba's cultural and artistic expressions were prioritized and supported during my tenure. We recognized the importance of cultural identity and the preservation of our heritage. Investments were made in the arts, music, and literature, fostering a vibrant cultural scene in Cuba. Artists had the freedom to express themselves, resulting in the emergence of renowned Cuban musicians, writers, and visual artists both within and beyond our borders.

Literacy and education were instrumental in our vision for a better Cuba. We launched the National Literacy Campaign in 1961, mobilizing thousands of teachers and literacy brigades to eradicate illiteracy within a year. This remarkable effort significantly improved literacy rates, with UNESCO even declaring Cuba as a territory free of illiteracy. We continued to prioritize education, providing free education at all levels, ensuring equal access to knowledge and opportunities for all Cubans.

Cuba has always been supportive of anti-colonial liberation movements around the world. We provided assistance to nations struggling against imperialism, such as Angola, where Cuban forces played a crucial role in supporting the liberation movement against Portuguese colonial rule. Our support also extended to other African nations, such as Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau. By aiding these nations, we aimed to empower them in their struggle for self-determination, independence, and liberation from oppressive forces.

Alongside other like-minded nations, we formed organizations like the Non-Aligned Movement, which sought to promote cooperation among developing countries and ensure sovereignty and independence. Sovereignty and self-determination were the cornerstones of Cuba's independent decision-making during my tenure. We firmly believed that every nation has the right to determine its own political, economic, and social path, free from external interference. We resisted attempts by foreign powers, particularly the United States, to dictate our domestic policies and sought to forge our own destiny. Defending our sovereignty allowed us to prioritize the needs and aspirations of our own people, and shaped Cuba's principled position within the global political arena.
