'98.8 Comic Market 54 My debut as a Dola occurred at this summer's Comic Market in '98. The event itself was held over three days, but I participated on the second day, 8/15, dressed as a plug suit-clad Asuka (on the third day, a yellow dress Asuka appeared, but that was my mentor Yumi Mizuno's Asuka). It was my first time in a costume and my first time participating in an event, so it was quite a challenge. Wearing a mask made it hard to breathe (it was already hot and suffocating normally, but on top of that, the borrowed mask pressed down on my nose and completely blocked my breathing), and I was really nervous since it was my first time. I wanted to try wearing a costume, but when I actually stood there, I had no idea what to do. I was a complete beginner. Below is my report on participating in the event at that time. Originally, I wrote this out of gratitude to Yumi Mizuno, from whom I borrowed the mask, and posted it on her website "Pretty Mask." It's an embarrassing, jumbled narrative, but I thought it would better convey my excitement from that time (even more embarrassing!) if I quoted it as it was. Back then, both I and the world didn't often see anime character costumes, so the excitement around me was even more palpable.

Three-Person Appearance On 8/15, three Eva characters made their appearance. It was probably the first time in recorded history that the three heroines of Eva—Rei, Misato, and Asuka—appeared together in costume (^^). For this occasion, Rei was portrayed by Yumi Mizuno, Misato by misato, and I took on the role of Asuka.

As always, the venue was extremely crowded. We formed a line with Misato, Rei, and Asuka, trying our best to move forward in a sharp V-formation. However, as we walked, it was as if the crowd parted like the Red Sea for Moses. Being at the back of the line, I could really see how the waves of people spread out. It was a delightful sensation (^^). "Oh wow!" "That's amazing!" "Scary!" I could hear voices from all around. An overexcited guy rolled in front of us while taking pictures, exclaiming, "You guys are incredible, just too amazing!" Seeing that, the expressionless face behind Asuka's mask involuntarily broke into a smile. Some people, while passing by, avoided making eye contact, but once they had passed, many turned around to look back. In those moments, if I suddenly waved at them, they would be surprised or burst into laughter, which was also a lot of fun.

726ab887e4cedbe2316fa904Translate to English と、花やしき初登場のコメントをするところですが・・・ ただ、東京下町育ちの私は子供の頃に何度も花やしきに行ってるので古馴染みな遊園地ではあるのですよね。大物の遊具施設の配置はおおむね変わっていないので勝手知ったるというところか。 しかし、あの純真で汚れを知らぬお子様が時を経て着ぐるみで来園するようになったとは、雷門の仁王様でも想像できなかったことでしょう。 あ、ついで言うと大人になっても汚れてはいません。単なる言葉の綾です。 気にしないでください。物を投げないでください。塩を撒かないでください。 （＾＾） ただ子供の頃に比べて遊戯施設がより密集したかな？ 飲食販売店も多いし、やっぱり売り上げを出すために中身を一層濃くしていかないといけないんでしょうか。ともかく、かなり手狭、子供の頃の印象より更に狭くなった、という感じです。 一方でそれだけの密度の濃さと、一般来園者が非常に多くて活気のある遊園地という感じがとってもあります。 豊島園やよみうりランドは広過ぎかな。勿論来園者数は花やしきより遙かに多いんでしょうけど、密度の少ない分、活気という点ではちょっと弱いかも。 遊びに来た空間には、それ相応の雰囲気というのも大切かと思うのですが、その点、花やしきは非常に雰囲気の良い遊園地ではありますね。

However, I never would have imagined that that pure, innocent child would one day return as a costumed character after all these years, even the guardians at the Kaminarimon Gate might not have envisioned it. Oh, by the way, I’m still not "tainted" even as an adult. It’s just a play on words. Please don't take it seriously. Don’t throw things or sprinkle salt at me! (^^) It seems that the amusement facilities are more densely packed compared to when I was a child. There are also many food vendors, and I guess to generate revenue, they have had to enhance the offerings. Overall, it feels quite cramped—more so than my childhood impression. On the other hand, the density and the large number of general visitors create a very vibrant atmosphere at the park. Places like Toshimaen or Yomiuriland might be too spacious. Of course, they probably have far more visitors than Hanayashiki, but due to the lower density, they might feel less lively in that regard. I believe that the appropriate atmosphere is also important in a space meant for play, and in that respect, Hanayashiki is truly a charming amusement park.
