Luigi: "I-I'm right behind you, Mario!"

Pikachu: "Pika pika..."

[Strange whispers surround them]

Luigi: "Did you hear that?"

Mario: "Who's there? Show yourself!"

Tarosuke: "Heh, not every day I meet travelers in the spirit world."

Pikachu: "Pika?"

Mario: "The spirit world? Wait, who are you?"

Tarosuke: "Name's Tarosuke. What brings you to my neck of the woods?"

Luigi: "W-We were just passing through!"

Tarosuke: "How about a little game? Bet you can't catch me!"

Mario: "Oh yeah? Let's-a go!"

[Sounds of rustling and quick movements]

Samus: "I can handle anything."

[Energy charges]

Tarosuke: "Alright! Show me what you've got!"

[Chasing and playful laughter]

Fox: "This guy's fast!"

Falco: "Not faster than our Arwings."

Tarosuke: "Wanna race? First one to the shrine wins!"

Mario: "We're not letting you get away that easily!"

Tarosuke: "Catch me if you can!"

[All characters give chase]

[At the shrine]

Tarosuke: "You boys sense it too, huh? The spirits are restless."

Ness: "We can handle a few spirits."

Tarosuke: "Hope so! They're dying to meet you!"

[Ghostly figures appear]

Luigi: "Ahh! Ghosts!"

Mario: "Stand your ground!"

Tarosuke: "Let's team up! It'll be fun!"

[They battle together]

After the battle:

Tarosuke: "Not bad! You guys are alright."

Mario: "You pack quite a punch yourself!"

Pikachu: "Pikachu!"

Tarosuke: "So, what do you say? Ready to take on the rest of the spirit world with me?"

Link: "We're ready for anything."

Samus: "Count me in."

Kirby: "Poyo!"

Tarosuke: "Great! Smash just got a lot more interesting!"

[All characters face forward determinedly]

Tarosuke: "See you on the battlefield!"

Q:

Derive the Newton-Cotes formula

I'm trying to understand how to set up the system of equations to solve for the Newton-Cotes formula coefficients.
The problem is: $x \in [0, 1]$, and let's say we want to integrate and find $I = \int_{0}^1 f(x)dx$.
I think the goal is to find $w_1$, $w_2$, $w_3$ such that:
$w_1 f(0) + w_2 f(1/2) + w_3 f(1) \approx \int_{0}^1 f(x)dx$
The way it's solved in the textbook is:
$$
\begin{bmatrix}
    1 & 1 & 1 \\
    0 & 1/2 & 1 \\
    0 & 1/4 & 1 \\
\end{bmatrix}
\begin{bmatrix}
w_1 \\
w_2 \\
w_3
\end{bmatrix}
=
\begin{bmatrix}
1 \\
1/2 \\
1/3
\end{bmatrix}
$$
I think this is where I got confused. I read the solution to 10.1 of https://www2.bc.edu/patrick-quillen/math4414/hw/a08s.pdf, and this says the $\begin{bmatrix}
1 \\
1/2 \\
1/3
\end{bmatrix}$ comes from $\int_0^1 x^k dx = 1/(k+1)$ for $k=0,1,2$.
Can someone maybe explain a bit to me why this linear equation is set up this way? How did we get these entries [1, 1, 1], [0, 1/2, 1], and [0, 1/4, 1], as well as why does the left equal the right [1, 1/2, 1/3]?

The example is from Art Owen's Monte Carlo book, 7.2 the derivation of Simpson's Rule (which is a bit different from Wikipedia and how it's shown else where): http://statweb.stanford.edu/~owen/mc/Ch-quadrature.pdf

I also tried to watch MIT's YouTube video on Simpson's rule which seems much easier to understand: YouTube, but the problem is:
the range of x is [-h, h], they did not use system of equations, and they tried to do $\int_{-h}^h \tilde f(x) dx$ where $\tilde f(x) = Ax^2 + Bx + C$.
Maybe my foundation is a bit too weak to understand the connection between these things...so any explanation is super welcome!

A:

We have
\begin{eqnarray*}
w_1 f(0) + w_2 f(1/2) + w_3 f(1) \approx \int_{0}^1 f(x)dx.
\end{eqnarray*}
Now let $f(x)=1$, then $f(x)=x$ and then $f(x)=x^2$, this gives the $3$ equations
\begin{eqnarray*}
w_1 + & w_2  +&  w_3  =& 1 \\
 & \frac{1}{2} w_2  +& w_3  =& \frac{1}{2} \\
 & \frac{1}{4} w_2  +& w_3  =& \frac{1}{3} \\
\end{eqnarray*}
And these $3$ equations can be summarised in the matrix form given.

[sys1]
To derive the Newton-Cotes formula, a numerical integration method, we use a set of equally spaced points to estimate the integral of \( f(x) \). Specifically, the goal is to determine weights \( w_1, w_2, \) and \( w_3 \) such that:
\[ w_1 f(0) + w_2 f(1/2) + w_3 f(1) \approx \int_{0}^{1} f(x) \, dx \]
The challenge lies in setting up the system of equations properly to solve for these weights.
[end sys1]

[sys2]
**2.1 Understand the Problem:**
The Newton-Cotes formula involves approximating an integral using weighted sums at specific points. In this case, the points are \(0\), \(1/2\), and \(1\). The problem setting requires constructing a system of equations representing polynomial exactness, ensuring the integration approximation is accurate for polynomials of degree up to 2.

*Reflection:*
"What am I assuming about the function \( f(x) \)? By using polynomial interpolation, can this method work for a general \( f(x) \)? I need to ensure I'm addressing polynomial of different degrees accurately."

*Creative Perspective:*
"Is there a simpler pattern or geometric interpretation in how weights balance contributions at different points?"

**2.2 Analyze the Information:**
To form the system of equations, consider the integral of a polynomial function \( f(x) \) evaluated at points \(0\), \(1/2\), and \(1\):

1. \( f(x) = 1 \):
   \[ \int_{0}^{1} 1 \, dx = 1 \]
   Which leads to:
   \[ w_1 + w_2 + w_3 = 1 \]

2. \( f(x) = x \):
   \[ \int_{0}^{1} x \, dx = \frac{1}{2} \]
   Hence:
   \[ 0 \cdot w_1 + \frac{1}{2} \cdot w_2 + 1 \cdot w_3 = \frac{1}{2} \]

3. \( f(x) = x^2 \):
   \[ \int_{0}^{1} x^2 \, dx = \frac{1}{3} \]
   Resulting in:
   \[ 0 \cdot w_1 + \frac{1}{4} \cdot w_2 + 1 \cdot w_3 = \frac{1}{3} \]

Organize into matrix form:
\[
\begin{bmatrix}
1 & 1 & 1 \\
0 & \frac{1}{2} & 1 \\
0 & \frac{1}{4} & 1 \\
\end{bmatrix}
\begin{bmatrix}
w_1 \\
w_2 \\
w_3
\end{bmatrix}
=
\begin{bmatrix}
1 \\
\frac{1}{2} \\
\frac{1}{3}
\end{bmatrix}
\]

*Reflection:*
"Consider: How does ensuring the equations satisfy at each polynomial degree guarantee convergence for a smooth enough \( f(x) \)?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Can other bases for polynomial spaces simplify the coefficients or weights needed? Could this reduction generalize to higher dimensions or degrees efficiently?"

**2.3 Generate Hypotheses:**
1. Exactness is maintained for quadratic polynomials. (Confidence: 0.9, Creative: 0.5)
2. Increasing sample points could improve precision. (Confidence: 0.8, Creative: 0.6)
3. Non-uniform spacing might offer advantages for specific \( f(x) \). (Confidence: 0.5, Creative: 0.7)
4. Transitioning matrices could reveal hidden properties in weight assignments. (Confidence: 0.6, Creative: 0.8)
5. Symmetrical integrals might allow half computations symmetrically reflected. (Confidence: 0.7, Creative: 0.9)
6. Applying this to complex domains uncovers new integrative dimensions. (Confidence: 0.4, Creative: 0.9)
7. Incorporating higher order derivatives refines error analysis. (Confidence: 0.6, Creative: 0.8)
8. Analytic transformations could simplify degenerate cases. (Confidence: 0.5, Creative: 0.6)
9. Coordinate transformations potentially streamline linearization of non-linear integrals. (Confidence: 0.5, Creative: 0.7)
10. Emphasizing endpoints could address abrupt value changes efficiently. (Confidence: 0.6, Creative: 0.5)

*Reflection:*
"Do these capture influential parameters in integration for this specific scenario? What have I left unconsidered that could lead to optimal weighting solutions?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Is there potential in drawing parallels to computational methods in another area that handle similar constraint settings?"

**2.4 Anticipate Future Steps and Obstacles:**
*Objective:* Ensure completeness in solution validation against polynomial test functions, anticipate numerical instability arising due to finite precision.

*Reflection:*
"What if larger matrices or different bases extend to higher degrees? Are computational limitations within specific contexts resolved in part by design methods?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Can emergent computing paradigms leverage integrative simulation to handle constraints effectively?"

[end sys2]

[sys1]
The derivation highlights a structured approach to assigning weights for integral approximation over specified intervals, optimizing based on polynomial exactness.
Understanding matrix selection and equations underlines the blend of numerical accuracy and systematic constraint handling.
This knowledge can extend into more complex integrals, enticing intriguing mathematical investigations.

Q:

Display youtube video list having search object

I've made a youtube search field with the youtube API, so, when you enter a search query in the search field, it returns an object containing the information of the search (title, thumbnail, description, etc.) of various videos obtained with the search.
So, what I want now is to associate this object containing all the information to some code for showing me the youtube search list.
This is what the code returns if I search for 'Blurred lines' it gives me this object:

A:

This is what I currently use to display useful tidbits relative to video search terms. This example only displays a list of videos reflecting your search terms, it does not display a list of channels or playlists. All this sample needs is some code to make a clickable thumbnail or title playback the video in an iframe embed or redirect to Youtube page - modify to suit your needs. Here's a link to display channel content with a Select menu:
<script>

var vquery, nextPageToken, prevPageToken;

function searchvideo(vquery, pageToken) {
$('ol').empty();
gapi.client.setApiKey('YOUR-API-KEY'); // Don't forget to insert your API key
gapi.client.load('youtube', 'v3', function(){
var vquery = $('#vquery').val(); // Your input box

var requestOptions = {
q: vquery,
part: 'snippet',
maxResults: 20, // Change results number here
type: 'video', // Notice that type used is video only
pageToken: pageToken
};

if (pageToken) {
requestOptions.pageToken = pageToken;
}

var request = gapi.client.youtube.search.list(requestOptions);

request.execute(function(response) {

nextPageToken = response.result.nextPageToken;
var nextVis = nextPageToken ? 'visible' : 'hidden';
$('#NEXTbutton').css('visibility', nextVis);
prevPageToken = response.result.prevPageToken
var prevVis = vprevPageToken ? 'visible' : 'hidden';
$('#PREVbutton').css('visibility', prevVis);

// This part displays your results:

var rThumbnail = response.items[i].snippet.thumbnails.default.url;
var rVideoID = response.items[i].id.videoId; // or snippet.videoId
var rTitle = response.items[i].snippet.title;
var rDescription = response.items[i].snippet.description;

$('ol').append('<li"><img src="'+rThumbnail+'" alt="'+rVideoID+'" />
<a href="javascript:void(0)" alt="'+rVideoID+'">'+rTitle+'</a>
<div class="desc">'+rDescription+'</div></li>');

$('.desc').each(function(){ // I use this in case no description
if ($(this).text() === '') {
$(this).text('- No description available -');
}
});
}
});
});
}

function nextPage() {
searchvideo(vquery, nextPageToken);
}
function previousPage() {
searchvideo(vquery, prevPageToken);
}

ASSISTANT
The task involves developing a method to display a list of YouTube videos based on a user's search query. This involves integrating existing YouTube API code and enhancing it to produce a user-friendly experience, specifically by displaying search results with clickable video titles or thumbnails.

[sys1]
The primary objective is to refine the existing code so that search results display as a list, with video titles and thumbnails linked directly to playable content. The user needs to implement clickable elements that either open a video in an iframe or redirect to the YouTube page. This can be achieved by augmenting the current code snippet provided.
[end sys1]

[sys2]
**2.1 Understand the Problem:**
The need is to convert a JSON response from a YouTube API search into a visually accessible list on a webpage, with interactions enabling video playback either within the site or on YouTube itself.

*Reflection:*
"What do I understand about building web interactive elements from API data? Am I knowledgeable about handling different user interactions like link clicks?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Could we create a more intuitive user navigation experience, like having the option to favorite or queue videos for later viewing directly from the list?"

**2.2 Analyze the Information:**
In the current setup, searches are executed, and JSON data is returned, but there lacks an interactive visual component for users to engage with the video list. The enhancement involves rendering the JSON data into actionable UI elements like thumbnails and titles that users can interact with.

*Reflection:*
"Am I utilizing the full breadth of data returned by the API response? Do elements like video descriptions add value to the user's search experience?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Is there an opportunity to display additional contextual information, like video ratings or duration, that might aid users in making a choice?"

**2.3 Generate Hypotheses:**
1. Implement clickable thumbnails that play the video in an iframe within the site. (Confidence: 0.8, Creative: 0.5)
2. Allow titles to link directly to the video on YouTube for simplicity. (Confidence: 0.9, Creative: 0.3)
3. Display video duration alongside thumbnails for better user decision-making. (Confidence: 0.7, Creative: 0.5)
4. Use asynchronous loading to prevent page freeze during API calls. (Confidence: 0.6, Creative: 0.4)
5. Incorporate a dynamic scrolling feature for better user experience with large result sets. (Confidence: 0.5, Creative: 0.6)
6. Enable a pop-over to detail a video’s description and channel information on hover. (Confidence: 0.7, Creative: 0.6)
7. Create a minimalistic interface with a focus on video titles and thumbnails alone. (Confidence: 0.6, Creative: 0.4)
8. Add a ‘start from the top’ button to quickly return users to the beginning of the results list. (Confidence: 0.4, Creative: 0.3)
9. Offer filtering options for video length or channel, leveraging the YouTube API's filters. (Confidence: 0.5, Creative: 0.7)
10. Why not a share button directly from the list items for social media? (Confidence: 0.6, Creative: 0.8)

*Reflection:*
"Am I exploring every potential interaction a user might have with the video results list?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Could social sharing directly from the list encourage more engagement with the search results?"

**2.4 Anticipate Future Steps and Obstacles:**
*Objective:* Plan for scenarios where users might face load time issues or interaction errors and prepare fallback functionalities or strategies to address them.

*Reflection:*
"Could delays in API response affect user satisfaction? How do we ensure robustness in the UI elements?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Is there a way to ingeniously signify to users that an API call is in progress without disrupting their experience?"

**2.5 Evaluate Hypotheses:**
*Objective:* Prioritize hypotheses based on their feasibility and user interaction enhancement potential.

*Evaluation*: Assign higher priority to ideas like clickable thumbnails within iframes (Confidence: 0.8, Creative: 0.5) and direct linking of titles to YouTube (Confidence: 0.9, Creative: 0.3) due to their low complexity but high usability impact.

*Reflection:*
"Are these interactions intuitive and easy to implement given our current constraints? Does my evaluation remain unbiased?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"How can I ensure these features genuinely improve user engagement and don't just clutter the interface?"

**2.6 Select the Best Hypothesis:**
*Objective:* Choose clickable thumbnails and title links as the main implementation strategy due to their straightforward execution and effective user interaction capability.

*Reflection:*
"These selections address both engagement and functionality without unnecessary complexity."

*Creative Perspective:*
"Is there additional low-hanging fruit in the UI/UX design space that I might integrate effortlessly?"

**2.7 Implement the Hypothesis:**
*Objective:* Modify the code to append video links and thumbs so they are clickable, incorporating an iframe for in-site playback.

```html
<ol>
  <li>
    <img src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/yyDUC1LUXSU/default.jpg" alt="Video Thumbnail" onclick="playVideoInIframe('yyDUC1LUXSU')" />
    <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyDUC1LUXSU" target="_blank">Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines</a>
  </li>
  <!-- Repeat for other items -->
</ol>
<script>
  function playVideoInIframe(videoId) {
    // Implement function to play video in iframe
    var iframeHtml = '<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/' + videoId + '" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>';
    document.getElementById('video-player').innerHTML = iframeHtml;
  }
</script>
```

*Reflection:*
"Are the interactions tested to be smooth? What could disrupt the flow in real-world usage?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"Could there be additional animations or micro-interactions to make the experience more delightful?"

**2.8 Monitor and Review Progress:**
*Objective:* Conduct user testing to verify ease of use and gather feedback on the search and display experience.

*Reflection:*
"What are common stumbling blocks for users? How smooth is the transition between search and viewing?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"What innovative refinements can be introduced based on feedback to ensure a superior user experience?"

**2.9 Reflect and Capture Insights:**
*Objective:* Document user responses and insights gained from the implementation for future reference and continued improvement.

*Reflection:*
"What patterns have emerged in user interactions? Are there new insights about consumer behavior we didn’t foresee?"

*Creative Perspective:*
"What can this experience teach us about designing user interfaces for other similar functions?"

Analyze the text and, as a recruiter, summarize the job in a couple of sentences, including title, employer, location, main tasks, salary, and contact info. Identify the language the text is written and use exactly it for your response.

Ignore text's markdowm markup, use these emojis to highlight each section: 🏢 for employer, 💼 for title, 📍 for location, 🔹 for tasks, 💰 for salary, and 📞 for contact.

Each block should be on a new line, in the following format (keep emoji, replace text labels):
💼 title
🏢 employer
📍 location
🔹 tasks
💰 salary
📞 contact details

Make sure to capture at least one main task and requirement. Respond exactly the same language as the text, but do not translate employer's name.

Flux 1.1 Pro

F.A.Q
Mind+ → Mind Pro.

Claude Sonnet 3.5

o1-mini

o1-preview

Flux 1.1 Pro

text-gen: GPT4o, Sonnet 3.5, o1-mini, o1-preview
img-gen: DALL-E 3, Flux 1.1 Pro

# Flux 1.1 Pro

```
3. **Дополнительные замечания:**
Маша с подругой проводят лето у родственников, которые живут в разных маленьких посёлках. Большой
магазин есть только в одном из них. Если поехать из посёлка Центральное в Камышино, где расположен
магазин, напрямую по лесу, это будет самый короткий путь между этими населёнными пунктами, но он
полностью пройдёт по лесной дороге, которая оставляет желать лучшего после дождя. Можно проехать часть
пути по шоссе и только потом проехать через лес, тогда путь пройдёт из посёлка Центральное в Тихое, а затем
до пункта назначения. Есть и третий способ — можно весь путь проделать по шоссе, тогда нужно доехать до
посёлка Красное, повернуть на 90* и затем продолжить путь по другой асфальтированной дороге.
В задании 1 к этому сюжету можно было определить, какие названия соответствуют обозначениям на плане.
Извините за недоразумение! Давайте решим вашу задачу.
Чтобы перевести скорость из километров в час в километры в минуту, используем формулу:
\[ V : 60 \]
Теперь, чтобы определить время, которое уйдёт на поездку от «Тихое» до «Камышино», нужно узнать расстояние. Если размер стороны клетки на плане — 4 км, и вы знаете, сколько клеток между этими двумя населенными пунктами, вы можете умножить количество клеток на 4.
Допустим, расстояние между «Тихое» и «Камышино» составляет 4 клетки (16 км). Тогда время в пути будет:
\[ Время = \frac{Расстояние}{Скорость} = \frac{16 \text{ км}}{55 \text{ км/ч}} \]
Теперь переведем часы в минуты:
\[ Время в минутах = \frac{16}{55} \times 60 \]
Рассчитаем:
\[ Время в минутах \approx 17.45 \]
Округляя до целых, получаем 17 минут.
Если расстояние другое, просто замените 16 на нужное вам значение.
Рис. 1. План местности
Рядом с дорогой расположились несколько деревень: Каневская, Павловская, Полтавская, Девяткино, Леваши,
Успенская. От деревни Успенская можно попасть через мост по шоссейной дороге, мимо деревень Леваши и
Девяткино, в д. Полтавская. Девяткино стоит на перекрёстке, нужно проехать мимо, свернув направо. Осенью,
когда река мелеет, можно проделать этот путь напрямую, по просёлочной дороге. До д. Павловская можно
проехать просёлком в любое время года — дорогу хорошо чистят зимой и укатывают летом. Дальше всех друг
от друга расположены Каневская и Успенская, а ближе всех друг к другу - Девяткино и Леваши. Все
просёлочные дороги образовывают прямоугольные треугольники с шоссейными.
От д. Каневская до д. Полтавская - 10 км, от д. Павловская до д. Девяткино - 12 км, от д. Девяткино до д.
Чтобы определить, сколько бензина потребуется на поездку от деревни Леваши до деревни Успенская, сначала нужно выяснить расстояние между этими двумя деревнями. Согласно вашему описанию, расстояние между Леваши и Девяткино составляет 4 км, а расстояние от Девяткино до Успенская составляет 8 км. Таким образом, общее расстояние от Леваши до Успенская будет:
\[ 4 \text{ км} + 8 \text{ км} = 12 \text{ км} \]
Теперь используется средний расход бензина — 8 литров на 100 км. Чтобы рассчитать, сколько литров потребуется на 12 км, применяем пропорцию:
\[ \frac{8 \text{ л}}{100 \text{ км}} = \frac{x \text{ л}}{12 \text{ км}} \]
Решаем уравнение для \( x \):
\[ x = \frac{8 \times 12}{100} = \frac{96}{100} = 0.96 \text{ л} \]
Таким образом, потребуется 0.96 литров бензина. Округляем до десятых:
