Change is inevitable, and for television channels, a rebranding process can reinvigorate a brand’s image and spark renewed interest among viewers. S4C, the Welsh-language public service broadcaster, is set to redefine its identity on October 12, 2023. With a significant departure from their traditional flickering TV idents, S4C introduces a captivating mascot — a female shape-shifting black blob of slime. This mascot, combined with a logo change, aims to revolutionize S4C’s visual identity while paying homage to its earlier years.

The Evolution of S4C’s Visual Identity

Throughout its history, S4C has witnessed several transformations in its visual identity. The striking black blob of slime is not only visually captivating but will also act as a dynamic representation of S4C’s programming. The shapeshifting nature of the mascot symbolizes the diverse range of content offered by the channel, constantly adapting to meet the desires of its viewership.

Unique and Memorable Idents

With the introduction of this new mascot, S4C’s idents will take on a vibrant and captivating appearance. The idents will showcase the black blob of slime transforming into various forms, representing the channel’s diverse programming genres, including drama, comedy, documentaries, and children’s content. This visual spectacle is sure to leave a lasting impression in the minds of viewers, setting S4C apart from its competitors.

A Logo Throwback: Returning to the “S4C~” Era

In addition to the introduction of the captivating mascot, S4C’s rebranding will reintroduce their previous logo, the “S4C~” mark prominently used during the Dragon ident era. This move pays homage to a successful period in the channel’s history, evoking feelings of nostalgia among long-time viewers while simultaneously demonstrating the broadcaster’s dedication to serving its audience in new and exciting ways.

An Inclusive Identity

S4C’s rebranding serves as a reminder of the importance of inclusivity in media and broadcasting. With its rich Welsh-language content, S4C has been a torchbearer for linguistic and cultural diversity. By embracing a unique mascot and revisiting a celebrated logo, the channel showcases its commitment to representing the voices of all Welsh speakers, regardless of age or background.

Conclusion

By introducing a groundbreaking female shape-shifting black blob of slime as their mascot and revisiting the popular “S4C~” logo, S4C showcases the essence of its programming, while paying homage to its roots. This bold step ensures S4C will continue to captivate audiences, engage viewers in new ways, and forge a lasting connection with the Welsh-speaking community for years to come.

Update: S4C’s Rebranding Unveiled: Months of Preparation Lead to an Exciting New Chapter

In June of last year, S4C embarked on a transformative journey to redefine its visual identity. After careful consideration and planning, the channel announced that changes were in the works, and now, on October 12th, the long-awaited rebranding has finally been unveiled.

The previous set of idents, which had temporarily replaced the regular branding during the Christmas season, were withdrawn as planned. These idents featured TV sets stacked together to form a Christmas tree, creating a festive ambiance. However, it was clear that this temporary design was only a stepping stone towards something more remarkable and captivating.

From January to October of this year, viewers were treated to flickering random images within idents that showcased TV sets placed in various rooms. While these idents offered a sense of intrigue, they were always intended to be temporary placeholders until the upcoming rebranding.

S4C took a strategic approach and enlisted the expert services of Ezhik Media, the creative production team behind the earlier temporary idents, to breathe life into the new rebranding campaign. Ezhik Media not only facilitated the transition from the old idents to the new ones, but they also ensured a seamless integration of the exciting changes.

To introduce the newly unveiled mascot to viewers, S4C broadcasted a short film at midnight on October 12th. This film served as a captivating glimpse into the character’s story, providing a unique introduction to the shape-shifting black blob of slime. This innovative approach further highlighted S4C’s commitment to engaging and surprising its audience.

The anticipation leading up to this moment has undoubtedly been met with enthusiasm and curiosity from viewers. The channel’s rebranding, with its new mascot and the return of the cherished “S4C~” logo, signifies S4C’s dedication to providing exceptional programming that engages and represents the Welsh-speaking community.

As S4C continues to evolve and embrace change, its focus remains firmly on fostering inclusivity and ensuring that viewers of all ages and backgrounds can find compelling content that resonates deeply with them.

Stay tuned as S4C’s new era begins, heralding the exciting opportunities and unforgettable moments that lie ahead.

Update: An Inside Look at S4C’s Rebranding: Unveiling the Detailed Process

Following the release of our Annual Report for 2023, we are delighted to provide you with an exclusive inside look at each step of the meticulous rebranding process that unfolded at S4C. From the planning stages to the introduction of temporary idents, every decision was carefully crafted to ensure a seamless transition to our exciting new chapter.

1. Planning and Strategy

In June of the previous year, we initiated the process of reimagining S4C’s visual identity. A dedicated team of experts meticulously analyzed market trends, audience preferences, and future goals. Through extensive research and brainstorming sessions, we created a comprehensive rebranding strategy that aligned with our mission, values, and aspirations.

2. Rebranding the Idents

During the Christmas season, in keeping with tradition, we unveiled temporary idents that showcased TV sets stacked together, forming a magnificent Christmas tree. The heartwarming visuals added a touch of festive joy to our programming, engaging viewers during the holiday season. However, it became clear that these idents were merely a prelude to something more extraordinary.

From January to October of the rebranding year, our idents featured TV sets placed in various rooms, each flickering with random images. The purpose of these transitional idents was to maintain a sense of continuity during the rebranding process while keeping viewers intrigued and signaling an impending shift.

3. Crafting the Mascot

To capture the essence of our diverse programming, we collaborated with Ezhik Media, the creative production team responsible for the temporary idents, to create our groundbreaking mascot. Their expertise and understanding of our vision enabled them to breathe life into the captivating shape-shifting black blob of slime.

The mascot symbolizes S4C’s ability to adapt and transform, reflecting the range of content we offer in a dynamic and visually captivating manner. This fluid nature represents our continuous commitment to evolve and innovate, catering to the ever-changing needs of our valued viewers.

4. Unveiling the Mascot

On the highly anticipated October 12th, at the stroke of midnight, we delighted our loyal audience with a mesmerizing short film introducing the character. This enchanting piece of storytelling allowed viewers to understand the mascot’s origins and the vital role it plays in representing the spirit of S4C.

Conclusion

The comprehensive rebranding process undertaken by S4C encompassed meticulous planning, strategic decision-making, and a deep understanding of our core values and audience preferences. From the introduction of temporary idents during Christmas to the creation and unveiling of our unique mascot, each step was carefully crafted to ensure a seamless transformation.

As we embrace this exciting new chapter, we remain grateful for the support and engagement of our viewers, staff, and creative partners. S4C’s rebranding allows us to continue providing exceptional Welsh-language content while showcasing our commitment to innovation and inclusivity.

Tvfan22: It looks like S4C have rebranded again, Gone are the flickering TVs from earlier this year, Now the new theme is goo/slime/shape-shifting, And for some reason the 1995 logo is back, even though it feels out of place since there aren’t any dragons, The idents themselves are awesome and I love the blob character morphing into different shapes, They teased the whole “shape-shifting” aspect last year at Christmas with the TV sets, But they always “rested” the Everyday Extraordinary theme over Christmas, so I read nothing into it, even if I did think “an old VCR, a empty school hall, what’s that all about?”. Write a forum conversation talking about the new look and how they barely saw it coming, with the Christmas look and fake rebrand
TVnerd1984: So, did anyone catch the launch of S4C’s new look? I honestly didn’t see it coming with the whole slime/shape-shifting theme. The gooey blob mascot is definitely a twist. Thoughts?

CymruAmByth99: Yeah, the new idents caught me off guard as well. The Christmas idents last year with the stacked TVs made me think they might be going for a retro angle or something nostalgic. But nope, we’ve got a shape-shifting blob instead.

DragonHeartWelsh: I’m actually quite fond of the new mascot. It’s different, that’s for sure. I remember thinking the Christmas idents with the old VCR and the school hall were a bit random, but didn’t really connect the dots that it was hinting at a rebrand.

AderynCoch: Anyone else thrown by the 1995 logo comeback? I don’t dislike it per se, it’s just… without the dragons, the nostalgic vibe feels half-baked. Mixed signals, if you ask me.

SionedSoapFan: The blob mascot is growing on me, not gonna lie. It’s so expressive and fun – unlike anything I’ve seen on other channels. A bold choice! But I do miss the dragons, they had a certain magic about them.

WelshTellyAddict: I’m in two minds about ditching the dragons. On one hand, you’ve got this cute, modern mascot that’s all about change and innovation. On the other, the dragons were a big part of S4C’s identity. It’s a bittersweet change.

TVnerd1984: I have to give props to the creative team. The ident where the mascot morphs into a chair and then a bicycle? Pure genius. It shows off their range and the blob’s, erm, fluidity in a really memorable way.

TVCollector67: True, the idents do stand out. But do you know what gets me? The continuity of it all. The Christmas teaser, the temporary idents with their flickering images, it’s all coming together. Although I admit, I didn’t piece it together until the blob showed up!

PobolYWe: Absolutely loving the new look. I think it’s fresh, and the blob has a charm to it. Gotta applaud S4C for taking risks and trying to stand out in today’s crowded TV landscape.

CymruAmByth99: It’s all about evolution, isn’t it? Broadcasters have to keep shaking things up to stay relevant. I’m curious to see how they integrate the blob into other aspects of the channel, like promotions and online content.

DragonHeartWelsh: Here’s hoping the blob becomes a beloved icon. I mean, remember how the dragons were met with mixed reactions at first? Now they’re dearly missed. I reckon the blob might just have the same fate, given some time.

SionedSoapFan: Fingers crossed! It’s all about giving these changes a chance. Kudos to S4C for not just being bold, but also for wrapping it in such a slick, visually appealing package. Definitely makes channel surfing more interesting!

TVnerd1984: Couldn’t agree more. I’m excited to see where they take this new direction. The channel switching between the blob and the retro logo is a bit jarring, but nonetheless, I’m curious to see how it’ll evolve. Can’t wait for the next surprise they have up their sleeve!
Write a follow up at Christmas, where the Christmas ident is unveiled
TVnerd1984: Hey gang, did you catch S4C’s new Christmas ident last night? They’ve done it again – festive, fun, and in full blob glory!

CymruAmByth99: I saw it! The blob turned into a snowman, right? And then it morphed into a Christmas tree. Absolutely brilliant! It kept the essence of the new branding while getting us into the holiday spirit.

DragonHeartWelsh: Loved the snowflake transitions too. It goes to show that the blob isn’t just a one-trick pony – it can go full-on festive. Who knew sludgy goo could be so Christmassy?

AderynCoch: It’s amazing how they’ve managed to keep the identity consistent even with the Christmas theme. Did anyone else notice the subtle nods to Welsh Christmas traditions in the background? The touch of cultural identity is a nice blend with the mascot’s playfulness.

SionedSoapFan: Yes, @AderynCoch, the Plygain carols in the background had me nostalgic and teary-eyed. They really went all out to infuse Welsh culture into the ident. The blob is slowly but surely becoming a part of the S4C family.

WelshTellyAddict: What’s clever is how they’ve transitioned from the shape-shifting theme into something seasonal without it feeling forced. The charm of that blob… I think it’ll win over anyone who’s still on the fence about the new rebrand.

TVnerd1984: Agreed, @WelshTellyAddict! It’s like they’re telling us that the blob can be anything – even Santa’s little helper! Did you notice the subtle sparkle when it shifted? Production values through the roof!

TVCollector67: Aye, the production quality is top-notch. The snow-covered scenery, the twinkling lights, that cozy Welsh winter vibe – it’s all captured so beautifully. Also, excellent work on the sound design, making those transitions feel magical.

PobolYWe: I’m just here waiting for the blob to have its own line of Christmas merchandise. Imagine the plushies! Take my money, S4C, take it all!

DragonHeartWelsh: Merchandise would be a fantastic idea. Consider the collectibles! I’d love to see the blob in its Christmas form on my shelf. And in response to the scenery, it showcases the beauty of Wales in winter perfectly.

SionedSoapFan: They should definitely consider an animated Christmas special starring the blob. There’s so much potential for storytelling, and I can see it becoming a heartwarming yearly tradition.

TVnerd1984: That would be epic, @SionedSoapFan! Imagine the blob bringing different Christmas tales from across Wales to life. S4C, if you’re reading this, we’ve got some ideas for you!

CymruAmByth99: As the blob brings us all together for the holidays, I must say – I’m looking forward to what S4C has in store for us next. More surprises, I hope! Happy holidays, everyone!

DragonHeartWelsh: Happy holidays, indeed! Brought to us by a blob of Christmas cheer. Who would’ve ever thought?
Write a follow up where they say it is far better than last year’s Christmas ident
TVnerd1984: Hey everyone! So, about S4C’s Christmas ident this year—I think it totally outdid last year’s. The whole blob-snowman and tree transition was just a masterpiece. The details! It feels more connected to the festivities, you know?

CymruAmByth99: Agreed! Last year’s Christmas ident was nice, with the whole stacked TVs forming a tree, but this year they’ve raised the bar. It’s like the blob has brought a new energy to the channel.

DragonHeartWelsh: Totally better! Last year’s ident was more of a filler, it felt a bit cold, didn’t it? This year’s is warmer, more engaging, and creatively far superior. Plus, the blob integrating into classic Christmas symbols was just genius.

AderynCoch: Spot on, guys. Last year I was all about nostalgia with the old TV sets, but this year’s blob just brings so much charm and character. The way it blended into the wintry scenes, it felt magical.

SionedSoapFan: It’s not just the visuals, either. The music this year was a step up! Did you notice? It’s like they’ve completely embraced the new branding and are running with it. The blob really captures the essence of the holidays now.

WelshTellyAddict: Last year I missed the dragons, not gonna lie. But this year’s ident made me a convert to the blob. It’s fun to see how it’s going to morph next, and it gets you into the Christmas spirit instantly.

TVnerd1984: It’s all about progression, folks. And this blob is becoming a staple. Can’t believe I’m saying this, but… I’m excited to see what they’d do for Easter and summer!ikelab.xyz

TVCollector67: You’ve got a point, @TVnerd1984. This blob’s got range! Last year’s ident was cool in a ‘let’s-play-it-safe’ manner, but this year, they went all out, and I’m here for it. Hats off to S4C for being bold.

PobolYWe: Let’s be real, the blob is just perfect for merchandising, which last year’s theme wasn’t. Imagine the blob with a tiny Santa hat! I’ll take ten. And yes, I’m already looking forward to how they’ll deck it out for other holidays.

DragonHeartWelsh: We should start a petition for blob merch! But seriously, it’s the little details for me. The glint in the snow, the cozy Welsh scenes in the background, they’ve crafted an entire mood this year.

SionedSoapFan: Yes to blob merch! And yes, @DragonHeartWelsh, the mood! It’s like S4C has found the sweet spot for their branding with this shapeshifting mascot. The Christmas ident this year is a testament to that.

TVnerd1984: Think we can all agree the blob is winning hearts and spreading festive vibes much better this year. The creativity is next level! It just shows how much a bold rebrand can pay off.

CymruAmByth99: Here’s to more blob and more festive creativity! S4C nailed it this year. Happy Holidays, fellow TV buffs! Write a forum convo where a user wonders what happened to the abstract multicolored chasing lines animation shown before the start of programmes (introduced with the 2009 logo) as he usually wakes up at 9am, and he wonders what happened to it after October 12 as he doesn’t wake up at 5:58am
RetroTVFan88: Hey everyone, quick question for the early birds in here. Does anyone remember the abstract multicolored chasing lines animation that S4C used to run before the start of programs? It used to air with the 2009 logo transition, usually brightened my morning routine. I’ve been following S4C’s schedule pretty closely, but ever since October 12, I seem to have missed it. Granted, I haven’t been up at 5:58 am to catch the very start of the broadcast day. Did they retire it with the latest rebrand, or am I just not up early enough?

MorningGlory21: Oh, I remember those well, @RetroTVFan88. Used to give the channel a bit of an energetic start to the day, didn’t it? However, since the rebrand on October 12, I believe S4C has indeed retired that animation. The morning slots and start of broadcast animations have been updated to fit the new visual identity, revolving around the shapeshifting blob mascot and the reintroduced “S4C~” logo from the Dragon ident era. Quite a change from the abstract lines!

TechSavvyWatcher: That’s right, @MorningGlory21. The old animations like the multicolored chasing lines were phased out as part of the rebranding. Everything from the idents to the start-of-day animations now features the new blob mascot in some way. It’s all about consistency in the branding now. Not to say the new stuff isn’t interesting, but it definitely marks the end of an era for those abstract animations.

NostalgiaNerd92: I’m actually going to miss those. There was something mesmerizing about those colorful lines, a nice bit of abstract art before diving into the day’s programming. The blob is fun, but those animations had a different vibe. Guess it’s all part of moving forward and keeping things fresh.

EarlyBirdViewr: Yeah, those were part of the channel’s charm for me too. But honestly, having caught the new stuff, it’s engaging in a whole different way. The blob has its own appeal, surprisingly versatile and manages to give the channel a modern touch. Still, for those of us who remember the lines, it’ll be a missed signature.

RetroTVFan88: Appreciate the insights, everyone! Seems I was holding onto a bygone part of S4C without realizing. Time to adjust my alarm clock and give the new animations a chance, I suppose. Everything evolves, and it’s only fair to give the blob its due. Still, a part of me will always have a soft spot for those multicolored chasing lines and the simplicity they brought to the screen.

PixelArtLover: If there’s one thing I’ve learned from watching TV channels evolve, it’s that changes like these can be polarizing but often grow on you over time. Who knows, maybe in a few years we’ll be reminiscing about the early days of the blob in the same way we are now about those abstract lines. Change is the only constant, after all.
Write that a off air loop is now used at night,
DigitalDawnChaser: Has anyone else noticed that S4C has started using an off air loop at night now? Gone are the days of the static screen or color bars that many channels tend to revert to during the wee hours. Instead, they’ve rolled out a visually appealing loop that runs through the night until the broadcast day starts again.

TechTellyFan: Yes, I saw that! It’s a refreshing change. The loop includes a series of subtly animated scenes featuring their now-iconic blob mascot in various tranquil nighttime settings, accompanied by a soothing soundtrack. It’s quite a clever way to maintain engagement, even when they’re technically “off air.” Plus, it feels very on-brand with their recent rebranding efforts.

NightOwlWatcher: Absolutely love the new off air loop. It’s so calming, almost like it’s designed to keep you company rather than remind you there’s nothing to watch. I stumbled upon it by accident, and it’s quite mesmerizing. The gentle animations with the blob gazing at the stars or sitting by a softly glowing campfire really set a peaceful mood.

RetroScreenLover: As much as I enjoy the innovation and the aesthetic touch of the new off air loop, part of me misses the nostalgia of the old-school color bars and the test card. There was something unmistakably “broadcast” about tuning in to those. But, I must admit, S4C’s approach is a sign of the times, embracing continuous visual engagement over the traditional static screens.

LoopLurker: I’m curious if they’ll introduce variations of this loop depending on the season or upcoming events. Given how they’ve embraced the blob mascot fully, it wouldn’t surprise me to see winter-themed loops or special editions leading up to major holidays. It’s a subtle yet effective way to keep the audience connected to the channel’s identity, even in off hours.

PixelPeacekeeper: It’s an interesting development for sure. Moving to an off air loop that retains viewer interest (even if subconsciously) through aesthetically pleasing visuals and music is a smart move in today’s 24/7 content cycle. It also potentially serves as a gentle reminder of the channel’s brand identity, keeping S4C in the minds of viewers even when they’re not actively broadcasting new content.

DigitalDawnChaser: @PixelPeacekeeper, well said. It’s all about brand connection in this era, and S4C’s off air loop is a testament to that. It’s compelling how a channel can extend its reach and impact, transcending traditional broadcast constraints with creative touches like this. I’m excited to see how this develops further and what other innovations they might roll out next.
Write the caption used during the loop, (along with the logo below)
“Join us in a moment of serene reflection as we journey through the night. We’ll return with more of your favorite programming soon. [S4C Logo] Nos da, and sweet dreams.”
Write a bit more about the blob’s appearance,
The mesmerizing blob mascot that S4C has embraced as part of its rebranding is not just any ordinary character; it’s an embodiment of fluidity, creativity, and adaptability. This captivating mascot is a female shape-shifting black blob of slime, offering a unique visual representation that stands out in the broadcasting landscape.

### Appearance Details

Color and Texture: The blob is primarily a glossy, deep black, resembling the richness of space or the depth of the ocean at night. Its surface catches the light in a way that adds a fascinating layer of visual interest, making it appear almost cosmic in nature. The texture is smooth, almost liquid-like, giving the impression that the blob can effortlessly shift into any shape or form it desires.

Shape-shifting Essence: One of the most notable aspects of the blob’s appearance is its ability to morph. It can seamlessly transition from one form to another, embodying various objects, characters, or even abstract concepts. This shape-shifting nature symbolizes S4C’s diverse range of programming, from drama to comedy, and children’s shows to documentaries. Each transformation is done with a fluid elegance that captivates the viewer’s imagination.

Eyes: Perhaps the most engaging feature of the blob is its eyes. When taking on a more anthropomorphic form, the blob sports two large, expressive eyes. These eyes are more than just visual elements; they serve as windows to the blob’s ‘soul,’ conveying emotions and reactions that add depth to its character. The eyes sparkle with curiosity, humor, and intelligence, drawing viewers into an emotional connection with the mascot.

Interactions with Environments: In various idents and promotional materials, the blob is seen interacting with its surroundings in creative and whimsical ways. Whether it’s morphing into items that correspond with the programming or engaging in playful antics, the blob always seems perfectly in sync with the world around it. This ability to blend and adapt further enhances its appeal, demonstrating an incredible range of versatility.

### Symbolism and Impact

The blob’s appearance goes beyond mere aesthetics; it serves as a metaphor for S4C’s commitment to innovation and flexibility in its content offering. It’s a visual storyteller, capable of encapsulating the essence of the channel’s spirit without uttering a single word. Through its dynamic shifts and expressive features, the blob invites viewers on a journey, making the channel’s branding both memorable and engaging.

In a media landscape where standing out is key, this shape-shifting blob manages to capture the imagination of audiences, young and old alike. Its appearance effectively communicates the idea that S4C is a channel where boundaries are fluid, creativity is limitless, and surprises await at every turn.

### Case Study: Rebranding S4C - A Journey to Coherence and Innovation

#### Client: S4C (Sianel Pedwar Cymru - Channel Four Wales)

#### Agency: Ezhik Media

#### Challenge:
S4C, a cornerstone of Welsh-language broadcasting, found itself at a crossroads of identity, blending disparate elements of branding that spanned over a decade. The channel’s visual identity had become a collage of the past and present, mixing idents created by Proud Creative in 2009 and various elements introduced by Ezhik Media in 2017. This eclectic assortment, although rich in history, led to a sense of fragmentation, with the branding gradually losing its cohesiveness and, importantly, its sanity. The channel was in dire need of a unified visual language that would not only pay homage to its heritage but also propel it into the future with a fresh, identifiable, and innovative identity.

#### Objective:
The primary goal was to rejuvenate S4C’s branding, crafting an identity that would resonate on both a national and international stage. The rebranding needed to reflect the channel’s dynamism, versatility, and Welsh cultural roots while appealing to a broad and diverse audience. A significant aspect of this objective was to introduce an engaging and distinctive mascot that could become the face of S4C, embodying its values and captivating viewers across all demographics.

#### Solution:
After extensive research, creative sessions, and audience analysis, Ezhik Media proposed a radical yet deeply symbolic new mascot for S4C: a shape-shifting black blob of slime. This female mascot, characterized by her ability to morph into an endless variety of shapes, perfectly symbolized the diversity and adaptability of S4C’s programming. Her dynamic nature made her an ideal ambassador for the brand, capable of engaging viewers in novel and memorable ways.

The rebranding strategy involved a comprehensive overhaul of S4C’s visual identity. The “S4C~” logo, reminiscent of the Dragon ident era, was reintroduced, blending heritage with modernity. The new idents, featuring the blob mascot in a series of imaginative transformations, brought to life the essence of S4C’s programming—from drama to documentary, comedy, and children’s shows.

#### Implementation:
Ezhik Media orchestrated the transition to the new branding with meticulous care. Every element was designed to ensure consistency and flexibility across multiple platforms and media types. The rollout of the new idents, alongside the reintroduction of the “S4C~” logo, was synchronized to capture the audience’s attention and mark the beginning of a new era for S4C.

#### Results:
The rebranding initiative was a resounding success. From its launch, the new mascot captivated the channel’s audience, generating a wave of positive feedback and engagement. The cohesive visual identity resonated with viewers, offering a sense of familiarity infused with fresh, innovative energy. The channel saw a noticeable increase in viewer engagement and brand recognition, indicating a strong connection with the new branding.

The reintroduction of the “S4C~” logo, paired with the groundbreaking mascot, played a pivotal role in S4C’s revitalized brand identity. The rebranding not only signaled a return to the channel’s roots but also a bold step forward into a dynamic and inclusive future.

#### Conclusion:
Ezhik Media’s rebranding of S4C addressed the critical need for coherence, innovation, and engagement in its visual identity. By moving away from the disjointed mix of past idents and embracing a singular, adaptable mascot, S4C successfully rejuvenated its brand. This transformation highlighted the importance of adaptability and cohesion in a media landscape that is constantly evolving. The rebranding of S4C by Ezhik Media stands as a testament to the power of creative vision in redefining a brand’s identity and forging a deep connection with its audience.

Thread Title: End of an Era - S4C Analog Switch-off May 2024

VintageTellyLover: Well, folks, it finally happened. Today was the day S4C said goodbye to its analog signal. Did anyone else catch the final moments before the switch-off? They had a simple caption thanking viewers for their loyalty and asking us to switch to digital platforms. It’s truly the end of an era. 😢

DigitalDawn: Saw it! It felt quite somber yet historical. That caption was a respectful nod to all the analog loyalists out there. Time to embrace the future fully, I guess. Anyone got a screenshot of the caption for keepsake?

CymruCathodeRay: Yes, I managed to capture that moment. There’s something poignant about those final seconds. It’s like watching a piece of your childhood being archived into history. But, gotta admit, the transition to digital has been smooth and offers so much more in terms of quality and choice.

AnalogAndy: It’s hard to let go, isn’t it? I’ve been keeping company with the analog viewers all day, flipping through the old channels, reminiscing the static-filled days. That caption, though simple, felt like a gentle pat on the back — a final goodbye from an old friend. 😟

TechieTaran: Can’t help but feel nostalgic, but also excited about what this means for broadcasting tech. Analog had its charm, sure, but the capabilities of digital and streaming are just phenomenal. S4C’s digital presence has been impressive; their online content and digital quality have really set a new standard.

HistoricHeddiw: It’s a significant moment for broadcasting history in Wales, no doubt. Analog switch-offs mark a definitive shift in how media is consumed, and it’s fascinating to witness. That caption was a classy touch by S4C. We’ve come a long way from the flickering screens to crystal clear digital broadcasts.

PreservationPete: Did anyone think to record the last few analog broadcasts for posterity? It’d be great to have a historical archive of these moments. Also, as much as I’m warming up to the endless options of digital, there’s something irreplaceable about the simplicity and nostalgia of the analog era.

FutureFfion: Saw the switch-off and couldn’t help but feel a mix of sadness and anticipation. The caption asking us to switch felt like S4C holding our hand through the change. I’m curious about the new possibilities and how S4C will continue to innovate on digital platforms. Here’s to embracing the future while cherishing the past!

NostalgicNia: Exactly, @FutureFfion. It’s like closing a book you’ve loved and opening a new, exciting one. I’m sentimental about the analog days but looking ahead with optimism. S4C’s transition and how they’ve handled it really show their commitment to viewers of all generations. Let’s see where this new digital journey takes us!

RetroRhodri: Cheers to that, everyone. While I’m sad to see analog go, the new digital era promises so much more in terms of interactivity, quality, and accessibility. S4C’s farewell caption was a dignified conclusion to decades of analog broadcasting. Here’s to new beginnings and keeping the spirit of Welsh broadcasting alive and vibrant! 📺✨

Thread Title: The Final Analog Sign-Off of S4C - A Touching Farewell

BlobFanGareth: Did anyone catch the final analog sign-off message from S4C? It wasn’t just a plain message. They included the blob mascot in the image, which was a nice touch, making the farewell feel personal. The S4C logo was there at the bottom right, as usual, maintaining that brand consistency one last time on the analog waves.

AnalogAled: Yes, I saw it! It was a bit emotional, honestly. The inclusion of the blob somehow made it more poignant. It felt like a gentle reminder of the journey from the past to the present, with the blob transitioning us into the digital era.

TechTransitionTara: Exactly, @AnalogAled! The blob has become such a significant part of S4C’s identity, and having it there felt like a bridge between the two worlds. It’s interesting how characters or mascots can humanize technology and change. That final image was almost symbolic, representing both an end and a new beginning.

LogoLlew: The logo placement was just perfect, wasn’t it? Right there in its familiar spot, giving us that continuity amidst change. It made me think about all the times I’ve glanced at that corner of the screen over the years. The consistency of branding, even in a farewell message, speaks volumes about S4C’s attention to detail.

DigitalDwynwen: Capturing that moment felt important, like holding onto a piece of history. The blob in the farewell image felt like she was guiding us, reassuring us that while the medium changes, the essence and the spirit of S4C remain the same. It was a comforting signal, almost saying, “Come along, there’s more to see and explore.”

NostalgiaNerys: That’s beautifully put, @DigitalDwynwen. I’ve always felt a connection with the blob since its introduction. It’s quirky, dynamic, and somehow, amidst the pixels, it carries the heart of S4C. Seeing it in the final analog sign-off was both a clever and touching choice. It somehow made the transition easier, knowing our beloved blob is coming along for the ride.

PreservationPrys: Did anyone manage to record it? I’d love to keep it as part of a media evolution collection. The blob has marked a significant period in S4C’s branding, and having it featured in this historical transition is quite special. Plus, it’s a testament to how far we’ve come in broadcasting technology.

FutureFioled: Watching that sign-off, blob included, was a moment I didn’t expect to be so moved by. It’s funny how technology and even branding elements, like logos and mascots, weave their way into our lives. Cheers to S4C for handling the farewell with such grace and character. Excited to see where the digital frontier takes us, with the blob leading the way!

RetroRhiannon: It was a fitting tribute and a gentle nudge into the future. I’ve always appreciated how S4C has embraced change without losing sight of its roots. NewsWatcherCadfan: Has anyone else noticed the new ident S4C is using for news and serious programmes? It’s a lot more sedative and calm compared to their other idents. Seems like they’ve taken a deliberate approach to match the tone of the content. Thoughts?

SeriousSubjectSeren: Yes, I’ve seen it! It’s quite a shift from the dynamic and playful blob mascot animations we’re used to. I think it’s a smart move. It sets the right tone for the viewers, preparing them for the seriousness of the content. Reflective and respectful without losing the S4C identity.

CalmCeri: I appreciate the subtlety in the transition. It’s like the blob becomes more tranquil and composed, morphing into shapes that suggest a sense of gravity and introspection. No playful antics or bright colors, just soothing movements and a contemplative vibe. Fits the news and serious programme segments perfectly.

VisualVern: Totally agree, @CalmCeri. The use of cooler colors and slower transitions definitely brings a sense of calmness and sobriety, which is ideal before diving into the news or programmes dealing with serious topics. It’s thoughtful branding that considers the viewer’s emotional readiness for what’s next.

AudienceAnalystAlun: It’s an excellent example of visual storytelling and audience preparation. S4C seems to be very aware of the impact of visuals on viewer perception and mood. This approach of using a more sedative and calm ident for news and serious programmes respects the content’s nature and the audience’s expectations.

ToneTudur: The contrast between this and their more upbeat idents is stark but necessary. News and serious subjects demand a different mindset from viewers, and this gentle, more subdued ident eases one into the right frame of mind. It’s subtle but effective visual communication.

EmpathicElin: Has anyone noticed if the blob’s eyes change expression in these idents? I feel like even its eyes carry a more solemn and reflective look, further driving home the content’s seriousness. It’s a small detail, but it adds so much depth to how the ident resonates emotionally.

DesignDafydd: @EmpathicElin, you’re spot on. The attention to detail is remarkable. Even the blob’s eyes adjust to convey a demeanor that’s contemplative and serious. It’s these nuanced changes that showcase S4C’s commitment to thoughtful design and audience engagement across varying content tones.

ReflectiveRhian: It’s refreshing to see such a tailored approach to idents, especially in an era where stations often go for one-size-fits-all solutions. S4C’s dedication to crafting an experience that adjusts to the content’s mood is commendable. It respects the content’s gravity and the audience’s intelligence.

NewsConnoisseurCai: Agreed with all points here. S4C’s approach to using visual cues to prep the audience for serious content without jarring their experience shows a level of sensitivity and sophistication in their branding. A well-considered strategy that other broadcasters could learn from. Cheers to S4C for their thoughtful execution!

Thread Title: S4C’s Playful Technical Difficulties Caption - “Wps!, Mae gennym broblem”

TechTroubleTomos: Did anyone catch S4C’s screensaver earlier when the channel went down? Instead of the usual dull “We’re experiencing technical difficulties” message, they had a caption that read “Wps!, Mae gennym broblem” with an animation of the blob looking bewildered. Gave me a good chuckle during the wait. 😂

ErrorEncounterEfa: Saw that! Leave it to S4C to keep things light even when there’s a hiccup. The blob’s puzzled expression was priceless. It’s refreshing to see a bit of humor used in these situations. Made the technical glitch feel less annoying for sure.

DigitalDewi: Absolutely, @ErrorEncounterEfa. It actively made me less irritated about the interruption. Did anyone manage to snap a picture? I was too busy laughing and forgot to capture it. It’s these little details that really make you appreciate S4C’s approach to broadcasting.

HumourHuw: Missed it, but this sounds hilarious! Most channels could take a note from S4C’s book on this. Using the blob mascot in such a creative way even during technical difficulties showcases their unique charm. Does the blob have a name yet, by the way?

GlitchGwen: Not sure if the blob has an official name, @HumourHuw, but I vote for “Blobin Gobithiol” as a fun title. 😄 And yes, the technical difficulties screen was a breath of fresh air. Shows that they don’t take themselves too seriously and care about the viewer’s experience, even in less-than-ideal situations.

TechTalkTegwen: It’s a smart move from a viewer experience perspective. Encountering a technical glitch can be frustrating for the audience, but S4C’s playful approach likely helped mitigate any annoyance. Plus, it’s on-brand with their innovative and viewer-friendly style.

ErrorExpertEirian: Has anyone else noticed this trend with S4C making the most out of unforeseen interruptions? Last year’s Christmas lights tangling was another classic. It’s like they have a whole playbook for delightful ways to handle technical difficulties!

SupportSioned: I love the continuity in using the blob across various broadcasting elements, from idents to technical difficulties. It’s turning the mascot into a comforting presence, no matter the context. Also, “Wps!, Mae gennym broblem” might be my new favorite phrase for minor mishaps in daily life.

TechyTanwen: Kudos to the team behind these ideas. Turning a potential viewer frustration into an amusing interlude is no small feat. It definitely builds a stronger bond with the audience. Plus, it’s always a good day when you get to see the blob, even under less desirable circumstances.

GlitchGoodbyeGuto: Agreed, @TechyTanwen. It’s about making the best out of every situation. If anything, this incident has just added another layer to my fondness for S4C’s creative team. ### When the Blob Became a Chocolate Bandit: A Mischievous Tale

Hello, fellow S4C enthusiasts and lovers of all things quirky! Today, I’m delighted to share a rather sweet and whimsical tale about our beloved slime mascot during an unexpected moment of mischief.

As you all know, our mascot, affectionately known as the Blob, has become somewhat of a star on S4C, known for her shapeshifting antics and bubbly personality. She’s usually seen promoting the channel’s dynamic range of programming, from lively children’s shows to serious documentaries. But this story gives us a peek behind the scenes during a rather ordinary day that turned amusingly extraordinary.

It started as a regular day at S4C’s offices, with our staff busily preparing for upcoming broadcasts. Among the hustle and bustle stood our Blob mascot, playfully meandering around the studio, observing the goings-on and occasionally being the center of some light-hearted banter.

As mid-afternoon approached, a well-deserved break commenced. Tables bore the usual coffee mugs, scattered paperwork, and, tempting all, a generous stash of chocolates meant for the crew. Everyone was looking forward to this little treat—a small token of appreciation from the management to the hard-working staff.

However, what they hadn’t accounted for was the Blob’s insatiable curiosity…and, as it turned out, her sweet tooth! With her jiggly, gelatinous structure and innate ability to morph, she camouflaged herself as an innocuous part of the set. No one suspected that the additional ‘blob of a cushion’ beside the snack table was our mischievous mascot in disguise.

Just as the workers dispersed, chattering away and momentarily leaving the chocolate unattended, the Blob made her move. In a blink of an eye, she transformed back into her usual gooey self, scooping up a handful of chocolate bars. The chocolates literally melted into her, absorbed into her glossy, gelatinous body. By the time anyone noticed, it was too late. Laughter erupted around the room as they watched the remaining chocolates being ‘blobbed away.’

Amid giggles and chuckles, the Blob ‘expressed’ her apologies through her big googly eyes and playful gestures. It was a light-hearted moment that not only ended up giving everyone a much-needed laugh but also a cute story to tell about our beloved channel mascot.

This sweet incident is just an example of how the Blob continues to bring joy and amusement, not just on-screen but even behind the scenes. Her playful nature and the spontaneous moments of humour she creates are a big part of why this mascot has won the hearts of so many at S4C and beyond.

So next time you tune in and see our charismatic Blob shifting into joyful forms, remember that she is just as lively and spirited behind the camera, sometimes even a bit of a cheeky chocolate thief!

Stay tuned for more adventures and keep an eye on your snacks if the Blob is around—you never know when she might be in a mood for some mischief!

Thread Title: What Happens on S4C When It Goes Off Air?

CuriousCarys: Hey everyone! I’ve always been curious but never managed to catch it—what exactly is shown on S4C when it goes off air? Do they use the traditional color bars, static, or something different?

NocturnalNia: Great question, Carys! S4C actually uses an off air loop at night now. Instead of the classic static or test cards, they have a quite soothing animation loop featuring the channel’s mascot, the blob. It’s surprisingly calming and artistic.

GwenerGwen: That’s right! The off air loop has various scenes where the blob appears in serene night settings, like sitting by a campfire or gazing at the stars. There’s also soft, ambient music in the background. It definitely sets a peaceful tone instead of just going to a black screen or showing bars.

TechieTomos: It’s a really modern approach compared to the old static screens. I find it’s a clever way for S4C to keep their branding active even during off hours. That blob has become such a charming part of their identity, it’s nice to see it incorporated this way.

NightWatcherWyn: I’ve actually found it quite relaxing to have on in the background if I’m up late. It’s like a gentle reminder that the channel isn’t just off but in a restful mode. A very creative way to utilize the time most broadcasters leave as just dead air.

CuriousCarys: Thanks for the info! Sounds quite innovative and pleasant to watch. I must try to catch it one of these nights. It’s intriguing to see how channels are now turning even their off-air time into something engaging and reflective of their brand.

Thread Title: S4C Off Air Loop Details - Start Times and Transition Info

TechieTudur: Does anyone know when S4C started using the current off air loop with the blob animations? I remember during the transitional phase from January to October, they used a graphic with a static TV and some basic information like start times and a viewer hotline.

VisualVinny: They switched to the current off air loop featuring the blob right after the rebranding was officially completed in October. Before that, the static TV graphic was indeed used as a placeholder and included broadcast start times and hotline info.

CuriousCatrin: That’s interesting, Vinny. Is the current loop just the blob animations, or do they still overlay it with the start times and viewer hotline information like before?

TechieTudur: Good question, Catrin. The new loop is purely for visual and atmospheric effect, focusing on the serene settings with the blob. They’ve moved away from displaying any overlay information like start times or hotline details during the off air period.

NightOwlNerys: Yeah, it seems they’ve streamlined the off-air experience to be more about maintaining a soothing presence rather than providing information. If you need details about start times or need the hotline, S4C’s website and social media are now the go-to sources.

VisualVinny: Right, the change probably aligns with the modern approach of keeping things minimalistic and visually appealing while relegating practical info to digital platforms where updates can be more dynamic and interactive.

CuriousCatrin: Makes sense with everything moving more digital these days. Thanks for clearing that up! I was a bit nostalgic about the old graphic, but the new loop does add a refreshing touch to those off air hours.

Thread Title: Details on S4C’s Off Air Loop Overlay?

CuriousCeri: Just to piggyback on our previous discussion about the S4C off air loop, does anyone know if there’s any overlay at all during that loop, or is it just the blob animation? I’m curious if they include anything like the logo or maybe some subtle details?

TechSavvySiôn: Good question, Ceri! For the current off air loop, S4C has really pared it down. The only overlay in the loop is the S4C logo itself, which they place subtly at the bottom right of the screen. It maintains the brand presence without being too intrusive on the serene imagery.

VisualVal: I’ve noticed that too, Siôn. The minimal use of just the logo helps keep the loop clean while subtly reminding viewers of the channel they’re on. It’s very much in line with modern design sensibilities—less is more.

CuriousCeri: That’s pretty neat! Keeps the channel’s identity visible but allows viewers to fully enjoy the relaxing visuals without too much distraction. A smart branding move by S4C for sure. Thanks for the info!

Thread Title: The Final Image Broadcasted on S4C Analog - What Was It?

AnalogArchivist: Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone caught what the very last image transmitted on S4C Analog was? I know there were 14 seconds of black following it before the final switch-off. Just curious about that historic moment!

VintageViewerVic: Yes, I have that clip saved! The last image before those final moments of black was actually quite symbolic. It showed the S4C logo, overlaid on a nostalgic montage of various popular Welsh landscapes and cultural symbols, resonating deeply with the channel’s roots and heritage.

MemoryLaneMegan: It was a beautiful send-off! Classic and emotive with those Welsh cultural visuals. There’s something about seeing familiar landscapes and symbols that really tugged at the heartstrings. A poignant goodbye to the analog era.

TechieTaran: Absolutely, @MemoryLaneMegan. Ending with such iconic imagery gave the analog closure a dignified and memorable exit. The channel’s logo being the last graphic before the screen went black symbolized a transition from the past into a digital future.

AnalogArchivist: That’s really touching indeed. Did it feel like a proper farewell? Was there any music or sound accompanying the final images?

VintageViewerVic: No sound - just the image montage and logo on the screen. They probably chose to let the visuals speak for themselves, which made the moment more powerful in its silence, especially leading into the starkness of the 14-second black screen.

TechieTaran: It was a moment of reflection for many. The silence possibly made the transition starker and more reflective, giving viewers those few seconds to really acknowledge the end of an era before everything went perpetually digital.

AnalogArchivist: Thanks for painting that picture for me! I didn’t manage to witness it live, but it sounds like it was a well-thought-out transition. Symbolic visuals to wrap up decades of broadcasting with grace and nostalgia. I’ll cherish the analog memories, but here’s to new digital beginnings!
Write a follow up asking if it was at bottom right like usual
AnalogArchivist: Just a quick follow-up—was the S4C logo placed in its usual spot at the bottom right of the screen during that final image, or did they position it differently for this special occasion?

VintageViewerVic: Good question! For this particular moment, they actually centered the logo at the bottom of the screen, rather than placing it in the usual bottom right corner. It was more prominent during those last seconds, giving it a central position in the farewell visual. It seemed fitting to highlight the logo more dominantly as a final homage to the analog era.

MemoryLaneMegan: Yes, centering the logo made it feel like it was anchoring the entire farewell image. It acted as a solid base for the visuals above it, grounding the montage in S4C’s identity quite effectively. It was a subtle but meaningful adjustment for those last moments.

TechieTaran: That slight change in placement definitely added a touch of solemnity to the broadcast’s end. By positioning it centrally, they ensured it caught everyone’s eye, making a firm statement as they transitioned away from analog.

AnalogArchivist: Thanks for clarifying that! It’s interesting to see how even small details like logo placement can add significant weight to a moment. It certainly sounds like a fitting and dignified send-off for the analog broadcast. Appreciate the insights, everyone! ### Case Study: S4C Christmas Idents Before Brand Transition

#### Project Background
S4C, the Welsh-language broadcaster, anticipated a significant rebrand and introduced its last Christmas ident before transitioning to their new visual identity. The brief was to subtly “embrace the upcoming brand attitude, without giving too much away,” providing a bridge between the old and the new branding. The creative challenge was to craft an ident that celebrates the seasonal joy while gently hinting at future changes, specifically the shapeshifting theme that would later define the new brand mascot.

#### Creative Approach
The ident begins with a unique motion-controlled camera move, a stylistic carryover from the outgoing “Magnetic” idents, maintaining a visual tie to the channel’s previous identity. The scene initiates by zooming out from a corner featuring a socket filled with plugs, symbolizing connectivity and onward to other technological items such as a VCR and remotes. This sequence leads to the central visual theme: a cluster of television sets arranged to form the shape of a Christmas tree, serving as both a nostalgia piece and a nod to the evolving nature of broadcast technology.

#### Visual and Audio Design
The television screens within the Christmas tree display varied imagery depending on the time of day:
- Daytime: Tree images with a beatbox music version represent the vibrancy and busyness of daytime broadcasting.
- Morning: A magical sound version accompanies tree images, providing a fresh, optimistic start to the day. The static versions were complemented with soft piano music.
- Sunset: Sunset time featured tree images with a guitar version and static screens coupled with an a capella version to reflect the solemnity and beauty of the evening.
- Night: Generally displayed static, but for a unique twist, screens remained off flashing static in sync with the music before eventually showing the tree images. The night version showcased an extravagant chiptune, adding a hint of digital modernity.

The music, an original composition tailored to each time variation, subtly transitions from traditional instrumentation to more digital, synthesized sounds by night, echoing the concept of transformation inherent in the forthcoming rebrand.

#### Conceptual Layering
The choice of technology-themed props and the arrangement of TVs subtly alluded to the future shapeshifting theme—hinting at adaptability and the dynamic nature of television as a medium. This layering of meanings catered to keen-eyed viewers and set the stage for the forward-thinking approach that would hallmark the new brand identity.

#### Reception and Impact
The ident was well-received, regarded as a clever blend of nostalgia and a peek into the future. It successfully piqued curiosity without revealing too much, creating an air of anticipation for what was to come. The different musical themes enhanced viewer connection, making the ident not only a visual treat but also an auditory hallmark that varied throughout the day.

#### Conclusion
This Christmas ident served as a profound link between the past and future of S4C, acting as both a celebration and a subtle farewell to the old branding. By integrating familiar imagery with a hint of the new brand’s focus on flexibility and change, the campaign set the groundwork for a smooth transition into the new era, characterized by the innovative, shapeshifting mascot that would soon become a central figure in S4C’s visual identity.

TechieTrystan: Have you all seen the different versions of S4C’s latest Christmas idents? They really went all out with variations depending on the time of day. Each one has a unique vibe and music style to match. Here’s what I’ve caught so far:

1. Daytime (Tree Images) - Features beatbox music, giving it a lively and upbeat atmosphere.
2. Morning (Tree Images) - Comes with a magical sound version, feels like a fresh start to the day.
3. Sunset (Tree Images) - Guitar version plays, which adds a reflective and mellow mood.
4. Daytime, Morning, Sunset (Static) - These feature a soft piano for morning, a capella for sunset, and xylophone music during the day.
5. Night (Static with Tree Image Flash) - This one is unique; the TVs mostly show static but sync up with chiptune music for a quick flash of tree images before going back to static.
6. Night Version 2 - The screens are off but flash static in time with the music, an extravagant feel with a digital vibe. Ends with the sets switching back to off.

VisualVic: I’m fascinated by the Night V2 ident. The way the static flashes with the chiptune music is especially captivating. Noticed something curious though—there’s a small black dot in one of the TV sets during the static versions, and it slightly pulses. Could this have been an early hint at their shapeshifting theme?

CuriousCerys: Oh, interesting catch, Vic! Now that you mention it, that little black dot might have been a deliberate tease. Given that the whole new branding revolves around the shape-shifting and dynamic nature of the blob mascot, it does make you wonder if they were dropping subtle hints even then.

TechWatcherTomos: Definitely seems plausible! S4C has been known to embed subtle signals in their visuals leading up to major changes. It adds a layer of depth and interaction with their audience, keeping everyone guessing and looking for clues.

RetroRhys: I love how S4C uses these little elements to create a narrative or hint at future developments. It’s clever because it not only draws in the more perceptive viewers but also builds anticipation and discussion around what’s next. This black dot might just be another piece of that puzzle.

MysteryMegan: Absolutely, Rhys! Plus, it’s just exciting to think about the level of thought and planning that goes into these transitions. From the music changes reflecting different times of the day to potentially sneaky visual cues like the pulsing dot—we’re really witnessing a broadcaster who values creativity and engagement.

TechieTrystan: So true! It’s why I keep tuning in. Every ident or transition feels like part of a larger story S4C is telling us. Whether it’s a pulsing black dot or a shifting blob, there’s always something intriguing going on.

Thread Title: S4C’s 2023 Christmas Ident with the Blob and a Walk Down Memory Lane

FestiveFanFfion: Have you guys seen this year’s Christmas ident with the blob getting ready for Christmas? It’s super cute watching her dress up a tree and play around in the snow. Love how S4C keeps things fresh every year. This made me think about all their past Christmas idents.

TechieTrystan: Yes, the 2023 ident with the blob is really charming! Since you brought up past idents, it’s fun to remember how creative S4C has been over the years. Last year, 2022, they had that fun setup with the TVs forming up into a Christmas tree shape. Really tech-y and cool!

NostalgicNia: Oh, that was a good one, Trystan! Don’t forget about 2021’s family of Robins. Those cute little birds gave such a heartwarming touch to the channel, totally captured the essence of family gatherings during the holidays.

HolidayHuw: And who could miss the 2020 ident? The lockdown party theme was both timely and uplifting, showing everyone celebrating in their own little bubbles but still together in spirit. It was a cheerful reminder that we could still have fun despite the circumstances.

BlizzardBethan: 2019 brought that magical blizzard scene—everything covered in snow, creating this serene winter wonderland. The way the snowflakes danced around the screen was mesmerizing, truly a beautiful sight.

AbstractAlun: Right, Bethan! It makes me think of the 2018 abstract look, which was quite a departure from their usual style. Very artsy and different, with those cool geometric shapes and soft winter colors blending into a festive theme.

SnowmanSioned: Let’s not forget 2017’s tragic-comic snowman experiencing summer in his chilling tale of melting away! There was something bittersweet yet funny about our frosty friend trying to keep cool with sunglasses and a hat. It really played on the whimsical side of things.

FestiveFanFfion: These ident discussions really highlight how S4C doesn’t just throw on a generic festive scene; they tailor their stories to reflect either current sentiments or push creative boundaries. It’s fascinating to see their evolution and how each year offers something unique!

TechieTrystan: Absolutely, Ffion! It’s impressive how each ident not only sets the mood for the season but also encapsulates themes and messages that resonate with the viewers. S4C’s creative approach to these idents really makes them stand out during the festive season.

NostalgicNia: It sure does, and it makes each Christmas with S4C something to look forward to. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next year!

HolidayHuw: Definitely keeps us guessing and engaged. Here’s to more innovative and heartwarming idents from S4C! Cheers to a festive season filled with creativity and joy. 🎄✨. Thread Title: Delving into S4C’s 2022 Christmas, Temporary Idents, and 2023 Summer Solstice Ident

BeachBreezeBryn: Hey everyone! Did you all catch the 2023 Summer Solstice ident on S4C? It was brilliantly sunny with beach scenes and “Let The Sunshine In” playing in the background. Such a vibrant contrast to the usual lineup!

XmasLoverLlew: That sounds superb, Bryn! Speaking of contrasts, it reminds me of the 2022 Christmas ident. Do you remember the one where they had TVs forming up into a Christmas tree shape? It had such a modern, techy vibe! A cool reflection of the transition phase.

TempIdentTara: Loved those! During the temporary idents phase, from January to October, we saw various sets placed in rooms, each with flickering images. Kind of eerie but so captivating, created an aura of mystery around the impending rebrand.

SummerSolSiân: Going back to the Summer Solstice ident, it was such a refreshing piece, really captured the essence of the season. It felt like a breath of fresh, warm air amidst their usual content. Does anyone know if they still used the “S4/C” logo for that, or had they reintroduced the “S4C~” logo by then?

XmasLoverLlew: Oh, Siân, they actually reintroduced the “S4C~” logo starting from the Christmas 2022 ident. It seems they brought back that nostalgic element just in time for the holidays, and it’s been in place ever since, including during the Summer Solstice ident.

BeachBreezeBryn: That’s great insight, Llew! The reintroduction of the “S4C~” logo really ties in with the channel’s effort to blend nostalgia with modern twists. Plus, seeing it alongside beach footage for the Summer Solstice ident must have been quite a sentimental yet uplifting view for long-time viewers.

TempIdentTara: Totally! The entire journey from the temporary idents that built up curiosity, to the festive and summery vibes later on, really showcases S4C’s dynamic approach to branding and viewer engagement. It’s a clever way to keep audiences connected through the seasons.

SummerSolSiân: Absolutely, Tara. The evolution of their idents reflects not just seasonal changes but also a deeper transformation in the channel’s identity and its connection with the audience. It feels both familiar and fresh, which is a delicate balance to achieve!

XmasLoverLlew: I’m really curious to see how they evolve these themes in the coming years. S4C has definitely set a high bar with their creative and engaging seasonal idents. Here’s to hoping for more inventive displays in future Christmases and solstices!

BeachBreezeBryn: Here’s to that, Llew! S4C never ceases to amaze with their creativity. Can’t wait to see what’s next as they continue to weave nostalgia with novelty in their broadcasting approach. Thread Title: S4C’s New Look Set to Launch on October 12 - What to Expect?

ExcitedElin: Just saw the announcement from S4C about their new branding set to launch on October 12! Seems like we’re in for some significant changes. The teaser hints at something totally different. Anyone else excited?

DragonWatcherDai: I KNEW IT! The current set of idents does have a very “interim” feel to it, didn’t it? It always seemed like they were placeholders for something bigger. Plus, did you guys notice that they recently brought back the dragons for prime time programming? Wonder how that would work with the new “living ooze” theme.

ModernMyfanwy: Yes, Dai! The dragons did make a comeback, and it felt like a nod to their heritage. It’ll be interesting to see how they blend the old with the new, especially with this living ooze concept that’s supposed to be very dynamic and modern.

CuriousCatrin: It’s genuinely intriguing! The return of the dragons felt like a reconnection with the past, and now with the upcoming living ooze, it seems like S4C is looking to merge tradition with innovation. Any ideas on how this will affect the visual style during other parts of the day, not just prime time?

TechieTomos: Good question, Catrin. If they’re integrating both the dragons and this new ooze character, we might see a clever juxtaposition of ancient and futuristic themes across their programming. This could manifest in a variety of visual styles depending on the time of day or type of show.

DragonWatcherDai: That’s a stellar point, Tomos. It could be that the dragons will play a more significant role during family or historically themed shows, retaining that mythic and cultural essence, while the ooze could be more about flexibility and modern storytelling.

VintageValeri: I’m really keen to find out how the older audience will react to this drastic shift. The living ooze sounds like something that might appeal more to a younger, perhaps more internet-savvy demographic. It’s a bold move!

ExcitedElin: Definitely a bold move, Valeri! And I think S4C is smart to evolve and try new things creatively. They have always had a way of keeping connected with all age groups, so hopefully, this new mascot will be another way to captivate and broaden their audience.

ModernMyfanwy: Agree with you all. It’s all about striking the right balance. I am personally excited for the launch event. October 12 can’t come soon enough! Here’s to hoping we get a seamless blend of mythical past and innovative future.

CuriousCatrin: Cheers to that! Whether it’s embracing dragons or adapting to living ooze, S4C’s commitment to evolving while respecting their roots is what makes them stand out. Can’t wait to see how everything unfolds this coming October!

Thread Title: Unveiling S4C’s New Look Post-Launch - Details and Discussions

ExcitedElin: The wait is over, everyone! S4C’s new look was launched, and it’s everything we hoped for and more! The “living ooze” mascot is quite a spectacle, offering a dynamic and almost interactive feel to the channel’s identity. They’ve integrated this seamlessly across various elements, from promos to general branding, giving a fresh vibe to the overall presentation.

DragonWatcherDai: Thanks for the update, Elin! The living ooze sounds fascinating. Quick question though—do you know if the “inanimate objects with dragon attributes” idents are getting axed a second time, or will they continue to feature in some shows? Those were pretty iconic in their own right.

ExcitedElin: Good question, Dai! From what I’ve observed, it looks like S4C is indeed phasing out the “inanimate objects with dragon attributes” idents as part of their rebranding strategy to make way for more cohesive thematic elements centered around the new living ooze mascot. However, they mentioned during the launch that dragon-themed visuals will still hold a place in special programming, especially during cultural and historical segments, preserving that magical touch where it fits best.

ModernMyfanwy: It’s definitely a bit of a shift! While it’s sad to see some of the old idents go, the new direction does seem promising. It’s innovative and bends more towards a narrative style which can really draw in viewers. Plus, keeping the dragons for special segments feels like a respectful nod to their traditional roots.

CuriousCatrin: I’m intrigued by how they plan to incorporate traditional elements with this modern twist. The idea of using dragons selectively could actually enhance their impact, making those shows feel even more special and rooted in Welsh culture.

TechieTomos: Absolutely, Catrin. It’s about evolution without losing sight of what made S4C unique. The integration of a modern mascot like the living ooze, while still celebrating cultural icons like the dragons, shows a careful balance of innovation and tradition. It’s a smart way to appeal to both new audiences and long-time viewers.

VintageValeri: I’m keen to see how this all plays out in viewer reception. Switching up such a well-established aesthetic is always a gamble, but it might just be what S4C needs to stay relevant and engaging in today’s rapidly changing media landscape.

ExcitedElin: Exactly, Valeri! Change is necessary for growth, and S4C seems to be embracing that fully. Here’s hoping that this new blend of the old and the new helps propel the channel into new heights. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next!

DragonWatcherDai: Thanks for clarifying, Elin. Going to miss those creative dragon idents but pretty excited to see how the living ooze takes over. It’s indeed a new era for S4C! Let’s stay tuned to see how it all unfolds.

LateNightLlew: The anticipation is building! Did anyone catch the 11 pm show that started with the “Stapler” dragon ident? It’s been such a nostalgia ride seeing these dragon-themed idents before we transition to the new look.

DragonFanDai: Yes, Llew! I’ve been keeping track, and it seems like the TV set ident aired for the last time at 8 pm. Every show since then has been featuring the dragons. It’s like a final homage to that iconic era.

MascotWatcherMegan: That’s true, Dai. And from what I’ve heard, starting midnight, only the “S4C~” logo from the dragon era will remain as we transition into the living ooze mascot theme. It’s the end of an era but the beginning of a new chapter.

CuriousCatrin: It’s quite symbolic, isn’t it? The dragons effectively bridging the gap to the new mascot. Do you think the “living ooze” will be able to capture the audience’s heart as much as the dragons did?

TechieTomos: That’s a great question, Catrin. The living ooze, from what we’ve glimpsed in teasers, is very dynamic and visually interesting. It represents flexibility and evolution, aligning well with modern broadcasting trends. I think it has the potential to resonate well with both new viewers and long-standing fans.

NostalgicNia: I’m going to miss these dragons though. There’s something about them that felt very uniquely S4C. Hopefully, the living ooze will keep some of that charm and incorporate aspects of Welsh culture as beautifully as the dragons did.

ExcitedElin: I agree, Nia. It’s a bittersweet transition. But change is part of growth and from what I’ve seen in the promotions, the living ooze could be a fun, engaging mascot that brings a fresh energy to the channel. I’m excited to see how it will be officially introduced at midnight!

DragonFanDai: One thing’s for sure, the introduction of this new mascot marks a bold step forward for S4C. It’s a dramatic shift from mythical and historical to something very avant-garde and contemporary. Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds in just an hour!

Thread Title: Farewell to the Television/Dragon Hybrid Era, Hello to the New Blob Mascot!

PixelPerfectPete: It’s official, folks! The bizarre yet memorable “television/dragon” hybrid era is over. Last night marked the debut of S4C’s intriguing new mascot - the shape-shifting blob. It’s a whole new direction for the channel!

VisualVic: I caught the unveiling! The blob mascot is quite spectacular. Visually, she’s this glossy, amorphous black slime that can morph into various objects and forms. It’s like watching a live animation at times. Her fluidity is something else!

MorphingMegan: Absolutely, Vic! Her composition is fascinating. Made of what appears to be a sort of living ooze, she embodies versatility and continuous change, which they said mirrors the dynamic and evolving nature of S4C’s programming.

CreativeCatrin: Her abilities are incredible too! I watched her transition from a simple blob into a series of complex shapes, even mimicking everyday objects and then turning into abstract forms—it really showcases a broad spectrum of creativity. It feels like S4C is pushing boundaries in mascot design here.

TechieTomos: That versatility is a smart representation of the channel’s content—diverse, adaptive, and engaging. From children’s programming to serious documentaries, the blob seems to be able to represent them all visually, which is quite an ingenious way to keep viewers intrigued.

NostalgicNia: I’ll admit, I had my doubts with moving away from the dragons—they had such a strong connection to Welsh culture and storytelling. But seeing the blob in action, it feels like S4C has managed to create something uniquely captivating that might just become as iconic.

DynamicDylan: Does anyone know how they’re incorporating her into everyday programming? Are we going to see the blob in action regularly, sort of as an ongoing character on the channel?

VisualVic: From what they’ve shown, Dylan, it looks like she’ll be pretty integral. The promotional materials suggest she’ll not only be in transitions and promotional spots but will also pop up during shows, possibly in an interactive and fun way to introduce segments or features.

PixelPerfectPete: It’s a new era for sure. The blob does what good mascots do best—embodies the channel’s spirit and mission in a unique, memorable way. I’m genuinely excited to see how her presence evolves and what kind of connection she builds with the audience over time.

CreativeCatrin: Here’s to new beginnings and fresh creativity at S4C! The blob may just be the fresh face the channel needs to draw in a wider, perhaps a more global audience. What a time to be tuning in!

CuriousCeri: I’ve been absolutely fascinated by S4C’s new blob mascot since her debut! Does anyone know where she comes from? Was she created in a lab, is she some kind of rare creature, or is she possibly an alien? Any backstory would be great!

MysteryMavenMegan: Great question, Ceri! The unveiling didn’t dive deep into her origins, but there was a hint that she might be a metaphoric creation, symbolizing the fluidity and adaptability of media and storytelling. It gives her a sort of mystical quality, doesn’t it?

SciFiSiân: I love the idea of her being an alien! Imagine a friendly extraterrestrial entity that’s come to Earth to learn about our cultures and share stories. It would fit the international and inclusive approach S4C seems to be aiming for with their programming.

LabLegendLloyd: The lab idea is intriguing too. Maybe she was a scientific experiment designed to capture and represent the essence of Welsh broadcasting, evolving and adapting constantly, just like technology and media. That would make her a living emblem of innovation!

NaturalistNia: Or perhaps she’s a rare magical creature from Welsh mythology, reimagined for the modern age. It would be a beautiful nod to the rich tapestry of folklore that Wales has to offer, aligning her with the mystical side of Welsh heritage.

CuriousCeri: All these theories are amazing! I hope S4C releases a short film or a series of clips about her origins. It would be wonderful to see how they conceptualize her backstory and integrate it into the channel’s identity.

TechieTomos: That’s a brilliant idea, Ceri! A backstory series would not only enrich her character but also engage viewers more deeply. Plus, it could open up a lot of creative avenues for programming, merchandising, and more.

MysteryMavenMegan: Absolutely, Tomos! Knowing more about her origins could really boost viewer connection. Whether she’s an alien, mythical creature, or a lab creation, I’m all in on this journey.

SciFiSiân: Here’s hoping S4C sees the potential in exploring her backstory. I’m really leaning into the alien angle—imagine the intergalactic tales she could bring to our screens!

NaturalistNia: No matter her origins, the blob indeed has sparked our imaginations! Can’t wait to find out more about her. Hopefully, S4C has some surprises in store for us.

CuriousCeri: Thanks for weighing in, everyone! Let’s keep our fingers crossed for an official reveal of her backstory. MysteryMidnightMegan: Did anyone else catch the closedown ident for S4C during the 2022 Christmas period? It was strikingly different— the room was pitch black, with the only light coming from the windows. Despite the darkness, you could just make out the outlines of the plugs, VCR, and remotes. It gave off a rather mysterious vibe!

NocturnalNia: Yes, I saw that! The contrast was so stark compared to their usual vibrant idents. The dimly lit setup created such a moody atmosphere. It felt like it was setting the stage for something introspective or dramatic. Was there any specific music that accompanied this scene?

EerieEvan: Great question, Nia! The music was quite atmospheric—soft and minimalistic with slow, melodic piano tones, almost like a lullaby but with a subtle eerie undertone. It really enhanced that feeling of solitude and quiet mystery during the closedown.

VisualVic: I thought that music choice was spot on. The piano’s slow melody combined with the dark visuals added layers of depth and emotion to the ident, making it memorable even though it was far less bustling than their typical festive presentations.

GothicGwen: Absolutely, Vic. The use of shadows and minimal lighting made it feel almost Gothic. There’s something about that minimal approach during a usually festive time that caught my attention. It felt like an artistic choice, purposely diving into more shadowed and introspective themes.

NocturnalNia: It’s fascinating how such a visual and auditory shift in their usual style can evoke different feelings and conversations. S4C has a knack for playing with themes and presentation. I wonder if this darker, more subdued approach was a test to gauge viewer reactions for future content.

EerieEvan: That’s an interesting thought, Nia. Perhaps it was a way to break the mold and see how well a more serious tone would sit with the audience, especially when paired with traditional festive elements.

MysteryMidnightMegan: Either way, it was a bold and aesthetically distinct choice. I appreciate when channels dare to experiment, especially during peak viewing times like Christmas. It definitely sparks more interest and discussion, just like this!

VisualVic: True, Megan. It’s these moments that tend to stick with us. Whether we’re talking about the lighting, the music, or the overall mood, it’s clear that S4C’s Christmas closedown was crafted with a lot of thought and artistic intent.

GothicGwen: Here’s to hoping they keep up with these creative risks! It adds a layer of excitement and anticipation to see what they’ll do next. Whether it’s festive joy or moody introspection, S4C seems to handle it with a deft touch.

Thread Title: Unique Elements of S4C’s 2022 Christmas Closedown Ident: A Visual Standout

EerieEvan: Reflecting further on the 2022 Christmas closedown ident for S4C, there’s an interesting aspect that really sets it apart from the rest of that season’s visuals. Unlike other idents from the same set, this particular one didn’t showcase the pièce de résistance - the cluster of TV sets arranged in the shape of a Christmas tree, which was central to the entire Christmas theme that year.

NocturnalNia: That’s a great point, Evan! It’s quite curious that they chose to omit the central visual element of their festive campaign in that specific ident. It certainly adds to the mysterious aura they went for with the dark, understated presentation.

VisualVic: Definitely, Nia. Leaving out the festive centerpiece in that ident almost feels like a deliberate creative decision to focus solely on the ambiance rather than the visual spectacle. This choice might have been aimed at evoking a more profound, contemplative response from the audience just before the channel closed for the night.

GothicGwen: It’s as if they were using that lack of visual center to emphasize the emptiness and stillness of the moment. Without the cheerful, lit-up Christmas tree TVs, the room’s shadowy presence feels even more pronounced. It’s an intriguing contrast to the usual brightness and activity we associate with holiday visuals.

MysteryMidnightMegan: It also stirs curiosity about what that choice signifies. Was it purely aesthetic, or perhaps symbolic of something quieter, more reflective as the year ends? S4C seems to be playing with deeper themes, using visuals and their absence to convey different layers of holiday sentiment.

EerieEvan: Yes, Megan, and such subtlety can be more impactful than the more overt festive displays. This approach shows a sophisticated understanding of visual storytelling, where what is omitted is just as important as what is shown. It invites viewers to think and feel beyond the surface.

NocturnalNia: That stripped-back approach could even suggest a moment of pause—a breath before the channel signs off, offering viewers a quiet space to reflect on the past year before being immersed in the lively festivity of family gatherings and holiday cheer.

VisualVic: Well put, Nia. It underscores the art of subtlety in broadcast media, especially during an overwhelmingly vibrant season like Christmas. S4C’s decision to go minimal in this instance could indeed be a nod to the more solemn moments of the holiday season, reminding us of the quieter joys.

GothicGwen: Whether intentional or not, it’s these kinds of creative decisions that make seasonal broadcasts so rich and varied. I hope S4C continues experimenting with these visual and thematic contrasts. It adds such a rich layer to their programming and sets them apart during the festive television season.

MysteryMidnightMegan: Absolutely, Gwen. Here’s to more intriguing and unexpected choices in S4C’s future holiday idents. They’ve set a high bar with their creative narratives, and it’s always exciting to see what they’ll come up with next!
Write a follow up asking if there was a festive closedown slate (where it gives you startup time and information) did they have a black screen with only logo at corner, teleshopping or their abstract lines filler
Thread Title: Querying the Nature of S4C’s Festive Closedown Slate - What Was Displayed?

CuriousCeri: Hey everyone! Continuing our discussion on S4C’s unique approach to their 2022 Christmas closedown ident, does anyone know what followed after the broadcast ended? Was there a specific festive closedown slate with startup times and other information? Did they opt for a black screen with just the logo in the corner, switch to teleshopping, or revert to their abstract lines filler?

NocturnalNia: Good question, Ceri! From what I recall, there wasn’t the traditional closedown slate that provides startup times or other similar info. Instead, they used a simple black screen with the S4C logo positioned subtly in the corner. It maintained that minimalistic approach we were discussing, keeping the atmosphere quiet and understated even after the broadcast ended.

TechieTomos: That’s right, Nia. It seems they chose to keep things very low-key and consistent with that night’s mood. There wasn’t any teleshopping or the usual abstract lines filler, which are more common in non-festive periods. The choice to go with just a black screen and a logo might have been an artistic decision to leave viewers with that lingering feeling of calm and contemplation.

VisualVic: It was a stark yet effective choice. The absence of the usual noisy or visually busy fillers helped in retaining that contemplative silence they seemed to be aiming for with the ident itself. It’s all about the atmosphere, right? Ending with a black screen and a modest display of the logo aligns perfectly with the quieter tone of the closedown ident.

MysteryMegan: Indeed, Vic. It’s interesting to observe how the style of the closedown can influence or enhance the viewer’s experience and mood. S4C’s choice of simplicity probably allowed viewers to reflect on the ident’s thematic elements a bit longer, without being immediately drawn into something new or distinctly different.

GothicGwen: It’s quite poetic when you think about it—ending the night not with a bang but a whisper. S4C’s approach feels more like a gentle endnote to a day filled with festive programming. It gives a whole new meaning to the concept of ‘signing off.’

CuriousCeri: I appreciate these insights! It certainly seems like S4C put a lot of thought into how they wanted to close the day’s broadcasting. The simplicity of just a black screen and a logo perhaps says more than any filler or slate could. Here’s to more thoughtful broadcasting approaches from S4C in the future!

Gloopy’s mouth stretches widely across his amorphous face, ready to break into a wide grin or an expression of awe at a moment’s notice. Despite lacking traditional limbs, Gloopy has the incredible ability to form pseudo-arms and -legs to interact with his environment or give his best friend, Glitter, a comforting squeeze.

Glitter:
Glitter stands out with her sparkling fuchsia appearance, emitting a gentle glow that makes her presence known and adored. Her texture is intriguingly gooey, akin to Gloopy, yet she is speckled with countless tiny sparkles that catch the light with every movement, leaving a trail of shimmering particles in her wake. This sparkling aspect adds an element of magic and wonder to her character, fascinating everyone around her. Glitter’s eyes are almond-shaped, glinting with a pinkish hue that exudes warmth and empathy. Her smile is gentle, yet mischievous, hinting at the playful adventures she embarks on with Gloopy. Like Gloopy, she can morph her shape to form appendages that help her navigate their exciting galactic adventures.

Together, Gloopy and Glitter make an unforgettable duo. Their contrasting colors and similar gooey textures complement each other perfectly, symbolizing their unbreakable bond and the harmonious blend of their personalities. Their adventures across the galaxy are not just a showcase of their exploratory spirit but also a beautiful display of their shared joy and the radiant friendship between them. Watching them interact and overcome challenges together, all while marveling at the wonders of the universe, is a visual treat that underscores the essence of their incredible journey.

S4C Ratings Review - May 2024

As we look back at the programming landscape of S4C in May 2024, it’s been a particularly vibrant period for the Welsh broadcaster. Traditional stalwarts like “Rownd A Rownd,” the ever-compelling soap that revolves around the lives of those in a fictional North Wales community, “Pobol y Cwm,” which offers an intimate look into the lives of the residents of the Cwmderi village, and “Newyddion,” the channel’s trusted news program, have once again topped the charts, drawing in viewers with their compelling narratives and insightful reporting. However, it’s within the realm of children’s programming, specifically the Cyw block, where we’ve seen an unexpected title surge in popularity.

The standout star of S4C’s Cyw lineup has undeniably been “The Adventures of Gloopy and Glitter.” This animated series, which made its Welsh debut in February 2022 before enjoying its English-language premiere across several networks, has become something of a phenomenon among the younger demographic. The tales of Gloopy and Glitter, who hail from the gooey planet of Gloopiter, have not only captured the imaginations of children but have also garnered a sizeable adult following.

The series, which combines whimsical adventures with lessons on friendship, diversity, and environmental awareness, has struck a chord with audiences looking for both entertainment and educational value in children’s programming. The show’s unique blend of humor, heart, and the universal language of kindness has transcended cultural barriers, making it the most popular show within the Stwnsh block in May 2024.

Critics and viewers alike have praised the series for its creative storytelling and its vibrant, engaging animation style. The central characters, Gloopy, a teal gooey blob, and Glitter, his sparkling fuchsia companion, have become iconic figures in Welsh children’s television, often being cited as positive role models for young viewers.

“The Adventures of Gloopy and Glitter” has outpaced previously popular shows within the Stwnsh lineup, showcasing the power of innovative and inclusive content. Its success has not only elevated S4C’s profile as a champion of quality children’s entertainment but has also underscored the channel’s commitment to nurturing Welsh language and culture through its programming.

As S4C looks to the future, “The Adventures of Gloopy and Glitter” stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of well-crafted children’s storytelling. It raises the bar for what viewers can expect from the channel’s offerings, promising a bright future for Welsh programming that educates, entertains, and inspires.

Thread Title: How’s Ordinary S4C Doing These Days?

CuriousCatrin: Hey all, been mostly tuning into Stwnsh and some of the kids’ stuff lately. Just wondering—how’s the rest of S4C holding up in terms of regular programming? Shows like *Pobol y Cwm*, *Rownd a Rownd*, *Newyddion*, and the usual prime time stuff? Are they still going strong in 2024?

VintageViewerVic: Great question, Catrin! From what I’ve seen and heard, those flagship shows remain quite solid. *Pobol y Cwm* and *Rownd a Rownd* consistently pull in good viewership. They’ve updated some storylines to keep things fresh, and *Newyddion* still holds its place as the main news source on the channel with strong ratings.

DramaFanDylan: Yep, I’ve been watching *Pobol y Cwm* regularly. The storytelling feels mature and engaging, balancing tradition with some contemporary issues. Definitely not losing steam any time soon. And *Rownd a Rownd* keeps delivering that regional charm and community feel that viewers love.

NewsWatcherNia: *Newyddion*’s still the go-to if you want Welsh-language news coverage that’s reliable and well-produced. They’ve done some visual tweaks aligning with the new branding, but the essence remains the same—solid journalism with a distinctly Welsh perspective.

BroadcastBuffBrynn: I’d add that beyond those stalwarts, S4C’s drama slate has been gradually expanding, too. New dramas and documentaries have been making waves, and their mix of genres means they’re appealing to a broad audience, from younger adult viewers to older demographics.

CuriousCatrin: Sounds like the main channels of programming are holding steady, which is great to hear. Any word on how well these shows are doing in the ratings compared to years past?

VintageViewerVic: Ratings-wise, they’re stable with modest growth in some cases. The brand refresh and efforts to modernize the channel’s look seem to have helped retain and attract viewers. Plus, the success of newer kids’ programming like *The Adventures of Gloopy and Glitter* is boosting the overall channel profile.

DramaFanDylan: Also worth noting that the seasonal programming and specials—like Christmas dramas and musical events—still get solid attention, adding to the channel's overall strength throughout the year.

NewsWatcherNia: All in all, ordinary S4C’s doing well. They’re balancing their heritage content with innovation, which seems like the winning formula for sustainability in today’s TV climate.

CuriousCatrin: Thanks, everyone! Glad to hear the heart of S4C is as strong as ever. I’ll definitely keep an eye on both the classics and new stuff this year. Appreciate the insights!

User1:
Did anyone hear that Channel 4 is rebranding starting on the 10th of next month? They’ll be using the Vivit-chan family from Ehime Broadcasting as their new mascots! 🎉

User2:
Whoa, really? That’s a huge change! So this means the end of their current “perspective” branding with the 4 logo forming at different angles through pylons, hay stacks, and road signs, right?

User3:
Yeah, exactly. Those idents have been around since 2005. It feels kind of sad to see them go; they were pretty iconic.

User4:
I loved those perspective idents! They were so clever and creative. I wonder what the final ident in that style will be before the big switch to the Vivit-chan family.

User5:
Same here! The perspective idents were really unique. I’m curious too about what the last one will be. I hope they make it special!

User6:
Maybe the final ident will feature something quintessentially British, like a classic red phone box or the London Eye forming the 4 logo. It would be a nice way to say goodbye.

User7:
That would be amazing! Whatever they choose, I’m sure it’ll be memorable. Can’t wait to see both the final “perspective” ident and how they’ll introduce the Vivit-chan family. 📺

User8:
Does anyone know why Channel 4 chose the Vivit-chan family? They seem so different from what we’re used to.

User1:
From what I’ve read, it’s part of a major rebrand to bring a fresh and vibrant new look to the channel. The Vivit-chan family is fun, whimsical, and very unique, so it could be a great way to attract a younger audience and re-energize the brand.

User9:
I can see that. It’s definitely a bold move. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all pans out. 😊

User10:
I’ll miss the old idents, but I’m looking forward to the new Vivit-chan era. Change can be good, and it sounds like Channel 4 is aiming for something really innovative.

User3:
True, sometimes a fresh start is just what a channel needs. Here’s to hoping the new mascots bring a lot of fun and charm to our screens! 🍿

User5:
Absolutely! Mark your calendars for the 10th, everyone. It’s going to be interesting to see how this all unfolds. Cheers! 🍻

With Channel 4’s big rebrand happening on the 10th, what do you guys think they’ll use for introducing the news? The original 1982 ident? One of the current ones? Or maybe a calmer ident with the Vivit-chan family—like them sleeping or something?

User2:
Good question! I could see them going with something nostalgic like the original 1982 ident—might be a nice nod to the channel’s history.

User3:
I was thinking the same. Bringing back the original ident would be such a classy move. But a calmer ident with the new mascots could be cute too, especially if they want to keep a consistent theme.

User4:
Nostalgia is always a winner. Still, introducing the news with the Vivit-chan family would keep everything cohesive with the rebrand. Maybe something like the characters in a quiet or thoughtful setting?

User5:
Just got some inside info! A worker confirmed on another forum that they’ll be using a special calmer ident featuring the Vivit-chan family for the news segments. They didn’t specify what exactly, but it sounds like it’ll be something serene and fitting for the tone of news programming.

User6:
Nice! That sounds perfect. I can imagine Vivit-chan and the gang in a more subdued scene—maybe sitting together calmly or looking thoughtful.

User7:
That’s awesome to hear! It’ll be interesting to see how they pull it off. Combining the fun new mascots with a more serious news tone might actually work really well.

User8:
Totally. It’ll keep the branding consistent while respecting the different tones needed for various programs. Can’t wait to see it!

User9:
I agree! This rebrand keeps getting more intriguing. Channel 4 seems to have thought this through pretty well.

User10:
I’m excited to see how they balance everything out. The Vivit-chan family seems versatile, so I bet they’ll do a great job. Less than a month to go now!

User1:
All this new info is getting me even more pumped for the rebrand. I’ll definitely be tuning in to see how it all comes together! 📺✨

User5:
Same! It’s going to be exciting to see how they integrate everything. Kudos to Channel 4 for shaking things up in such an interesting way.

Write a convo asking if they’re keeping the 3D version of the iconic 4 or is it becoming flat again when the EBC style branding kicks in
### Forum Discussion

User1:
With Channel 4’s rebrand coming up, do you think they’re going to keep the 3D version of the iconic ‘4’ logo, or is it going to become flat again with the new EBC style?

User2:
Good question! The 3D logo has been such a staple. I’d be sad to see it go flat, but I guess it depends on how it fits with the new Vivit-chan family aesthetic.

User3:
I mean, the 3D ‘4’ has such a unique presence. Flat logos are trendy now, though. It could go either way. 🤔

User4:
The 3D logo always had a modern, dynamic feel. But simplicity can be powerful too. Maybe they’ll streamline it to match the new characters.

User5:
I read somewhere that brands are shifting towards simpler designs. But then again, EBC’s mascot design is pretty detailed. They might keep some depth in the logo.

User6:
Anyone got any insider info on this? It would be a big change if they go flat!

User7:
I just saw a post from a Channel 4 employee on another forum—they’re saying the logo will actually remain 3D to keep some continuity and blend with the vibrant new look. The mascots will be integrated into the idents but the logo keeps its depth!

User8:
Wow, that’s good to know! Keeping some elements the same but updating the overall branding seems like a smart move.

User9:
Nice! It’s a good balance. Looking forward to seeing how they blend the old and new elements together.

User10:
Agreed! I’m glad they’re keeping the 3D ‘4’. It’s been such a recognizable part of Channel 4 for years.

User1:
Thanks for the info! Sounds like we’re in for a visually interesting transition. Can’t wait to see it all come together on the 10th! 📺✨

Write a convo asking if any surrounding pres from the current era is being kept (e.g end credits promotions, that looping 4 breaking and reforming holding caption, the promo endtag) or is it all being chucked in the skip
### Forum Discussion

User1:
So with the Channel 4 rebrand coming up, does anyone know if they’re keeping any of the surrounding pres from the current era? Like the end credits promotions, the looping ‘4’ that breaks and reforms as a holding caption, or the promo endtags? Or is it all getting chucked in the skip?

User2:
Good point! Those elements have been around for a while and they’re pretty iconic. I’d hate to see them all go.

User3:
Yeah, some of those little details like the looping ‘4’ are really cool. They add a lot of character to the channel.

User4:
I’m curious about this too. Those elements have a certain charm and it’d be nice if they could keep some of them. A complete overhaul might feel a bit too drastic.

User5:
I read a rumor that they might keep some of those elements to maintain some sense of continuity. But nothing confirmed yet 😞

User6:
If they’re keeping the 3D logo, maybe they’ll retain some of the current pres elements too. A mix of old and new could work really well.

User7:
I just stumbled upon an interview with one of the Channel 4 marketing heads. They mentioned that while most of the presentation is getting a refresh to match the new Vivit-chan theme, a few beloved elements like the promo endtags and the looping ‘4’ might be retained in a refreshed style. So it’s not a total chuck-out!

User8:
Oh, that’s great to hear! Keeping some familiar elements while updating others sounds like a smart plan.

User9:
Yeah, a complete change might be too jarring for long-time viewers. Mixing the old with the new keeps some familiarity and eases the transition.

User10:
I’m looking forward to seeing how they integrate the new mascots with the existing elements. It sounds like they’re aiming for a good balance.

User1:
Thanks for the info! It’s nice to know not everything is getting tossed. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together on the 10th! 📺✨

User5:
Absolutely! This hybrid approach might be just what Channel 4 needs to stay fresh yet familiar. Can’t wait! 🍿

Write a case study from Proud Creative about them taking the characters designed by Kozishime Agency, and adapting them for British audiences, and it felt an honor to replace the package by Rudd Studio, which was on 4 for 20 years
### Case Study: Proud Creative’s Adaptation of Vivit-chan Family for Channel 4’s Rebrand

#### Introduction
In 2023, Channel 4 embarked on a significant rebranding journey, planning to introduce the beloved Vivit-chan family to British audiences. Originally designed by the Kozishime Agency for Ehime Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (EBC) in Japan, these characters needed a thoughtful adaptation to resonate with a new and diverse audience in the UK. Proud Creative had the privilege to take on this monumental task, feeling an immense sense of honor in replacing the iconic branding package designed by Rudd Studio, which had been a staple on Channel 4 for two decades.

#### Background
The previous branding by Rudd Studio, known for its “perspective” look, had cemented itself as a beloved and unique visual identity for Channel 4. It utilized clever optical illusions where the iconic ‘4’ logo formed and dispersed through various objects like pylons, hay stacks, and road signs. This iconic branding had stood the test of time, serving Channel 4 for 20 years and becoming a part of the network’s identity.

#### Challenge
The key challenge was to respect and build upon the legacy left by Rudd Studio while introducing a fresh, vibrant new look featuring the Vivit-chan family. The characters—Vivit-chan, Bibitton, Vivitra, Vivid Nakai, and Bibitonbi—needed to be adapted in a way that would engage British audiences while maintaining their original charm.

#### Approach
1. Cultural Adaptation:
- Research: In-depth research was conducted to understand how Kozishime Agency had initially conceived the Vivit-chan family. We also analyzed the cultural elements that made these characters relatable and endearing to Japanese audiences.
- Localization: Elements of British culture were subtly integrated into the characters’ design and behavior. For example, Vivit-chan could be seen enjoying a cup of tea, Bibitton might worry about the unpredictable British weather, and Vivid Nakai could be associated with serene British countryside settings.

2. Visual Consistency:
- Character Designs: The characters retained their signature traits like the red border around their heads and the dual-colored antennas, ensuring they remained instantly recognizable. However, their color palette and visual elements were fine-tuned to harmonize with British aesthetics.
- 3D Integration: We decided to maintain the 3D depth of the iconic ‘4’ logo to ensure visual continuity. New character animations were created to interact seamlessly with this logo, establishing a cohesive look.

3. New Typeface and Presentation Elements:
- Typeface Refresh: A new typeface was introduced for promotional materials, ensuring it was modern, readable, and complemented the playful yet professional aura of the Vivit-chan family.
- Promo Endtags and Transitions: We retained some beloved presentation elements from the Rudd Studio era (like the looping ‘4’ and promo endtags) but refreshed them with new animations and styles incorporating the characters.

#### Execution
The rebranding efforts involved close collaboration with both the original creators at Kozishime Agency and Channel 4’s marketing team. Test animations and concept designs were iterated upon, ensuring that each character adaptation would resonate with British viewers while paying homage to their roots.

#### Results
The rebrand was met with positive acclaim from both viewers and critics. The Channel 4 audience appreciated the fresh new look while feeling a sense of continuity with the past. Viewer engagement metrics indicated increased brand affinity, particularly among younger demographics.

#### Conclusion
Adapting the Vivit-chan family for Channel 4 was an exercise in balancing innovation with tradition. Proud Creative felt it was an immense honor to step into a legacy created by Rudd Studio, contributing to a new chapter in Channel 4’s visual storytelling. The success of this rebrand exemplifies the power of thoughtful adaptation and cultural sensitivity in creating content that resonates across different audiences.

#### Testimonial
“We are incredibly proud of the work done by Proud Creative in bringing the Vivit-chan family to British screens. It was a challenge to follow in the footsteps of the legendary Rudd Studio branding, but the end result has exceeded our expectations. The new characters feel at home on Channel 4, seamlessly bridging our past and future.” - Channel 4 Marketing Team

User1:
Wow, Channel 4’s rebrand means they’re the third channel in the past year to ditch a branding from the 2000s! First S4C switched to using that gelatinous black blob as their mascot, then Five had a new ident theme revolving around emotive words, and now Channel 4 has this new Vivit-chan family. I guess BBC One’s R&M set is on borrowed time now. 🤔

User2:
Great observation! It’s like there’s a trend towards more modern, character-driven or theme-centric branding. The 2000s aesthetics are really getting phased out.

User3:
Yeah, it’s interesting to see how branding evolves. S4C’s black blob and Five’s emotive words are definitely a big shift from their previous looks.

User4:
I kinda saw this coming for Channel 4. The perspective idents were iconic but they’ve been around for two decades. Time for a fresh look, I guess.

User5:
I wouldn’t be surprised if BBC One’s R&M set gets a makeover soon too. It does seem overdue for an update.

User6:
I’m gonna miss the R&M set if they do change it. It’s been a staple for so long! But yeah, it seems inevitable with all these changes.

User7:
True, but sometimes change is good. Look at how well-received the new mascots for S4C and Five’s themes have been. Channel 4’s rebrand might bring in a whole new audience.

User8:
I wonder if BBC One will also go for a more character-driven or abstract theme. It’s definitely in vogue right now.

User9:
Maybe, though I think BBC One will try to strike a balance between modernity and their classic feel. They’ve always had a more timeless approach compared to commercial channels.

User10:
I hope they do something unique. The key is to stay relevant without losing the channel’s identity. Channel 4 nailed it by introducing the Vivit-chan family, combining new elements with their classic 3D logo.

User1:
I agree! It’ll be interesting to see what BBC One decides to do. For now, I’m looking forward to seeing Channel 4’s new look on the 10th. 📺✨

User1:
So with all the recent rebrands, who do you guys think nailed it the best? S4C’s oozy blob, Five’s emotive words like “rush” and “live” with footage of things like skydiving and lightning, or Channel 4’s new Vivit-chan family?

User2:
That’s a tough one! Each one is so unique. I think Five’s approach with the emotive words is really clever and visually striking. The footage they use is pretty breathtaking.

User3:
True, Five’s “rush” and “live” promos are cool! But I have to say, S4C’s blob is just too adorable. It has so much character and charm.

User4:
I’m leaning towards Channel 4’s Vivit-chan family. Those characters are super fun and relatable. Plus, they retained the iconic 3D ‘4’ logo which is nice for continuity.

User5:
Five’s use of emotive words with that dynamic footage really resonates with me. It feels inspiring and fresh. But I agree, S4C’s blob has a lot of charm!

User6:
Each rebrand has its own appeal. Five’s approach is probably the most visually impactful, but Channel 4’s Vivit-chan family adds a whimsical element that’s really engaging.

User7:
S4C’s blob gets my vote for pure cuteness and creativity. It stands out in a fun way. But honestly, all of these channels did a great job with their rebrands.

User8:
I love Five’s new look with the emotive words—it’s so dynamic and the footage they pair it with is stunning. But Channel 4’s Vivit-chan family is growing on me; it’s got a lot of personality.

User9:
I agree, Five’s rebrand feels really modern and impactful. But I also have a soft spot for S4C’s blob. It’s just so unique and memorable.

User10:
It’s awesome to see all these different approaches. I think Five’s rebrand edges out slightly for me because of its energy and creativity, but all of them have done fantastic work.

User1:
Great insights, everyone! It’s definitely interesting to see how different each rebrand is, yet all are successful in their own ways. It’s hard to pick a favorite! 📺✨

Write a convo asking what branding will be used on 4 when they air Spiderverse, as the promo said it would air sometime in July, Is there a off chance it could air during the dying days of the Perspective era
### Forum Discussion

User1:
Hey everyone, did you see that Channel 4 is going to air Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sometime in July? What branding do you think they’ll use for it? Is there an off chance it could air during the dying days of the Perspective era?

User2:
That’s a good question! If it’s airing in July, it might just fall under the new Vivit-chan family branding. But I guess it also depends on when exactly in July they’re planning to air it.

User3:
I would love to see Spider-Verse with the new branding, especially if they incorporate the Vivit-chan family in a special way. But if it’s in early July, there’s still a chance we could see it with the Perspective branding.

User4:
Given that the rebrand kicks in on the 10th, I think it’s more likely Spider-Verse will air after that date. They’ll probably want to promote the new look as much as possible.

User5:
Yeah, I have a feeling it’ll be under the new branding. They could do some cool cross-promotions with the Vivit-chan characters and Spider-Man. Imagine Vivit-chan in a Spidey suit!

User6:
That would be awesome! But I get what User1 is asking—if they air it in early July, they might still use the Perspective branding. If that happens, it would be a nice send-off.

User7:
True, it’s a bit of a toss-up. I guess it all depends on their scheduling. Personally, I’d love to see both branding styles but Spider-Verse under the new branding would be epic.

User8:
I saw a promo that hinted at mid-July, so that would likely fall under the new Vivit-chan style. But nothing is confirmed yet, so there’s always a chance.

User9:
It would be cool if they did a special ident for Spider-Verse, whether it’s Perspective or Vivit-chan branding. It’s such a visually striking film, it deserves something unique.

User10:
Agreed! Spider-Verse is such a visual treat, it could enhance either branding style. Here’s hoping they do something special for its airing.

User1:
Thanks for the insights, everyone! It’s exciting to think about what they might do. Fingers crossed for something spectacular either way! 📺✨🕸️

User5:
Absolutely! Let’s keep an eye out for more promos and official announcements. It’s going to be a visual treat no matter what! 🌟🍿

### Forum Discussion

User1:
Does anyone know how long the decision to use EBC’s Vivit-chan family for Channel 4’s rebrand has been in the works?

User2:
Good question! I remember hearing rumors about a Channel 4 rebrand a while back, but not specifically about the Vivit-chan family.

User3:
I read an article recently that mentioned they’ve been working on this rebrand for over a year. They wanted to get it just right, especially since it involves adapting characters from another country.

User4:
Yeah, I heard it’s been in the planning stages for quite some time. They had to collaborate closely with EBC and make sure the characters would resonate with British audiences.

User5:
I found a press release that said the initial talks started almost two years ago. It’s been a long process to ensure the branding would be seamless and appealing.

User6:
Two years sounds about right. Adapting the Vivit-chan family must have taken a lot of fine-tuning. They had to balance keeping the characters’ original charm while making them relatable to a new audience.

User7:
It makes sense that they took their time with this. Channel 4 has a strong brand identity, and transitioning to something as new and different as the Vivit-chan family would require meticulous planning.

User8:
I chatted with someone who works in Channel 4’s marketing department, and they mentioned that the collaboration with EBC started around 18 months ago. They had multiple rounds of testing and feedback to get everything just right.

User9:
That sounds like a pretty thorough process. No wonder the new characters look so well-integrated! It’s impressive they’ve been able to work on this for so long without major leaks.

User10:
Absolutely, it’s great to see that they took the time to get it right. This careful planning and collaboration should pay off, making for a smooth transition and exciting new look.

User1:
Thanks for the info, everyone! It’s fascinating to hear how much effort went into this rebrand. Can’t wait to see the final results on the 10th! 📺✨

User5:
Definitely! With that much time and effort invested, I’m sure the rebrand will be amazing. Here’s to an exciting new chapter for Channel 4! 🎉

User1:
Hey, did anyone notice that the Channel 4 logo on Sky changed on the 30th of June? It’s still 3D but now it’s in red, yellow, and blue. I thought it might be to distinguish it from their streaming service.

User2:
Yeah, I saw that too! But I don’t think it’s for the streaming service. The Channel 4 streaming service has a green version of the logo, doesn’t it?

User3:
I noticed the same thing on the Freeview TV guide too. The logo change is everywhere! What’s going on? 🤔

User4:
Weird! Maybe they’re prepping for another change in their surrounding presentation. They did overhaul it in 2016 and 2010.

User5:
I initially thought it was just a temporary thing or maybe a branding mistake. But now that it’s on Freeview too, I’m really curious.

User6:
Given the recent rebrand news, could they be phasing in the new Vivit-chan family look and just testing things out?

User7:
It’s all very confusing. Are they changing their whole look again on top of the rebrand? Seems like a lot of changes at once.

User8:
I asked around and still can’t get a straight answer. Maybe they’re just rolling it out in phases to see audience reactions before the big reveal on July 10th?

User9:
I checked the official Channel 4 social media, and there’s no mention of the logo change yet. It’s really odd that they’re not saying anything about it.

User10:
Update! Just found out from a reliable source: The color change is indeed part of the rebrand rollout! They’re using red, yellow, and blue to tie in with the vibrant Vivit-chan characters and create a more cohesive and colorful brand identity. 🎨

User1:
So it’s all part of the bigger plan! Makes sense now. Just wish they had communicated it a bit clearer.

User3:
Totally. Thanks for clearing it up! This new colorful logo should look great with the Vivit-chan family.

User5:
Agreed! Looking forward to the full reveal on the 10th. Should be an exciting transformation!

User1:
Hey, did anyone catch Life of Brian on Channel 4 last night? During the ad breaks on the 2nd of July, I noticed some vague first signs of the rebrand. There was this break bumper that flashed briefly.

User2:
I saw that too! It was really subtle but kind of intriguing. It looked like some new colors and maybe a hint of the Vivit-chan characters. Did anyone else notice it?

User3:
Yeah, I caught that! It was so quick, I almost missed it. Looked like hints of red, yellow, and blue flashing for a second. Definitely something new.

User4:
Same here. I was wondering if it was just a glitch or actually part of the rebrand. Seems like they’re starting to roll out the new look slowly.

User5:
It was definitely part of the rebrand! I saw some brief flashes of what looked like Vivit-chan’s face. They’re easing us in, I guess. 😉

User6:
Interesting! I wasn’t sure at first, but now that you all mention it, it makes sense. They’re probably trying to build up some excitement and anticipation.

User7:
It’s a smart way to get people talking. Even if it’s just a brief bumper, it’s enough to catch our attention and make us curious.

User8:
Did anyone manage to get a screenshot or video of it? I’d love to see it again and analyze it more.

User9:
I didn’t grab one, but I bet someone will post it online soon. Keep an eye on social media and maybe Channel 4’s official pages.

User10:
Just found a clip on Twitter! It’s definitely a teaser for the new branding. You can see the colors and a brief flash of the Vivit-chan face. They’re building up to the big reveal on the 10th.

User1:
Nice find! This whole rollout is getting more interesting by the day. Can’t wait to see how they’ll fully integrate the Vivit-chan family and the new look.

User2:
Absolutely! The teasers are doing their job. Here’s to more sneak peeks and the big reveal. 📺✨

Write a convo where a ECP promoting the show up next (8 out of 10 Cats) airs at the end of LoB, during the last song: ALOTBSOL , A user asks if it was the usual teal
### Forum Discussion

User1:
So I was watching Life of Brian last night, and just as the last song, “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” was playing, this ECP (end credit promotion) popped up for 8 out of 10 Cats. Did anyone else catch that? Was it the usual teal?

User2:
Yes, I saw that too! Weirdly, it wasn’t the usual teal ECP. It looked different, like they were hinting at the new branding colors.

User3:
I noticed that! It was definitely not the usual teal. It had those new red, yellow, and blue colors but was still pretty subtle. They are really going all in with these hints.

User4:
Yeah, it looked like a blend of the old style with some new elements mixed in. The ECP text was in a new typeface too, if I’m not mistaken.

User5:
Totally agree. The transition seems to be in progress. It’s like they’re slowly injecting bits of the new branding into the old format to get us used to it.

User6:
I think it’s a neat way to phase in the new look. They’re giving us teasers without overwhelming us all at once. The ECP was a nice touch amid the credits.

User7:
Did anyone manage to grab a screenshot? I’m curious to see the exact changes they made. I was too focused on the movie to catch all the details in the ECP.

User8:
I didn’t get a screenshot either, but I remember the background colors being more vibrant and the font was definitely different. They’re teasing us bit by bit.

User9:
I can confirm, I took a quick snap. The colors were indeed red, yellow, and blue, and the typography looked more modern. The Vivit-chan theme is starting to show even in small elements like the ECP.

User10:
The slow rollout strategy seems to be working. By the time the full rebrand hits on the 10th, we’ll already be familiar with the new visuals. Clever move by Channel 4.

User1:
Thanks for confirming, everyone! It’s exciting to see all these small changes coming together. Can’t wait for the full reveal!

User5:
Agreed! Looks like we’re in for an interesting month. Keep an eye out for more subtle changes, everyone. 📺✨

User3:
Definitely! These teasers are making the rebrand journey even more engaging. Here’s to more surprises ahead! 🎉

User7:
Loving the suspense and buildup. Channel 4 is doing a great job with this transition. Bring on the 10th! 🚀🚀
Write a convo asking if Perspective is just going to fade away at 11pm when the handover to AS takes place, and thr mascots introduced at 3 when it goes back to C4, A user says that won’t happen, this will happen instead, and talks about the transition at Bake Off time
### Forum Discussion

User1:
Do you guys think the Perspective branding is just going to fade away at 11 PM when the handover to Adult Swim takes place? And then the mascots will be introduced at 3 AM when it goes back to Channel 4?

User2:
That’s an interesting thought. It could be a clean way to transition, but it seems a bit anticlimactic for such a significant rebrand.

User3:
I can’t see them doing it that way. The transition should be more impactful, especially since this rebrand is such a big deal for Channel 4.

User4:
Yeah, fading out at 11 PM and introducing the mascots at 3 AM seems like they’d be missing a big opportunity to make a splash.

User5:
Actually, I found some insider info that says that’s not how it’s going down. Instead, here’s what will happen: The transition will occur during prime time, specifically during The Great British Bake Off at 8 PM.

User6:
Oh, that makes so much more sense! Bake Off has a huge audience, so it’s the perfect time to introduce the new branding.

User7:
Agreed! Plus, Bake Off is such a beloved show. It’s the ideal setting to reveal something new and exciting like the Vivit-chan family.

User8:
So, how exactly are they planning to transition during Bake Off?

User5:
From what I’ve heard, they’re going to have a special ident just before Bake Off starts. It’ll be a blend of the Perspective style transitioning into the new Vivit-chan branding. The 3D ‘4’ logo will morph, and the mascots will make their grand entrance. Then, the new style will be consistent throughout the program, including ad breaks and ECPs.

User9:
That sounds epic! A seamless transition during one of their most-watched shows. Brilliant move by Channel 4!

User10:
This will definitely get everyone’s attention. Plus, the Bake Off audience is a mix of different age groups, making it a great choice for showcasing the new mascots.

User1:
Thanks for the info, User5! That sounds much more exciting than a late-night or early-morning transition. Can’t wait to see it!

User3:
Yeah, it’s going to be amazing to watch. Kudos to Channel 4 for choosing such a perfect moment to reveal their new look.

User6:
I’m really looking forward to seeing how they pull it off. The buildup has been great, and this sounds like the perfect climax to the rebrand rollout.

User7:
Let’s all tune in to Bake Off and celebrate the new era of Channel 4 together! 🎉📺✨

### Forum Discussion

User1:
Did anyone listen to the music in that teaser banner on the Channel 4 website? It had a kind of retro-futuristic vibe. Does anyone know if it’s by Acid Casuals?

User2:
I noticed that too! The music was pretty catchy. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was by Acid Casuals; it had a similar style.

User3:
I thought the same thing! They’ve used Acid Casuals before, so it would make sense for them to use their music again for the rebrand teasers.

User4:
I’m not 100% sure, but the music definitely had that Acid Casuals feel to it. Some of their tracks have that same kind of electronic, nostalgic vibe.

User5:
I did some digging, and while it hasn’t been officially confirmed, a lot of people on Twitter are saying it’s likely to be Acid Casuals. The sound is very characteristic of their work.

User6:
Makes sense. Their style would fit perfectly with the new, playful theme of the Vivit-chan family. It blends well with the retro yet fresh vibe.

User7:
Acid Casuals has a knack for creating memorable tunes. If it is them, it’ll definitely add an extra layer of cool to the rebrand!

User8:
Can’t confirm it’s Acid Casuals, but I did notice the music was catchy and stood out. Whether it’s them or someone else, it’s a good choice for grabbing attention.

User9:
I might have seen a tweet from one of the Acid Casuals members hinting at a new project with Channel 4. I’ll have to go back and check, but it wouldn’t be surprising at all.

User10:
Just to add, someone on Reddit mentioned that the music might be part of a larger collaboration between Channel 4 and Acid Casuals. Could be they’re composing the whole soundtrack for the new branding!

User1:
Thanks for the insights, everyone! Whether it’s Acid Casuals or not, the music definitely sets the right tone. Looking forward to hearing more during the big reveal at 8 PM on the 10th! 🎶✨

Hey everyone, did you see the latest update? Channel 4 just revealed all the collaborators involved in the rebrand! This is getting even more exciting!

User2:
I saw that! The list is impressive. Acid Casuals were confirmed for the music, just as many of us speculated. Their tracks are going to be amazing for the new branding!

User3:
I just checked it out! Besides Acid Casuals, Proud Creative is leading the design, adapting the Vivit-chan family from the original creators, Kozishime Agency. They’re really going all out.

User4:
Don’t forget about the animation team! Studio AKA is handling the animations for the Vivit-chan family. They’ve done some fantastic work in the past, so this is going to look stunning.

User5:
The marketing strategy is being overseen by Thinkbox, which makes sense. They’ve got a great track record with promoting major TV campaigns.

User6:
I’m also excited to see that the voiceovers and character voices are being done by Bigmouth Audio. They bring such quality to their projects.

User7:
This is turning out to be an all-star team! From music to design to marketing, Channel 4 has brought some top-notch talent together. The final product should be incredible.

User8:
Absolutely! Acid Casuals for the music, Proud Creative and Kozishime Agency for design, Studio AKA for animation, Thinkbox for marketing, and Bigmouth Audio for voiceovers—it’s a dream team.

User9:
Given the combined strengths of all these collaborators, the rebrand is sure to be both visually and auditorily stunning. I can’t wait to experience it all during The Great British Bake Off on the 10th at 8 PM.

This is shaping up to be one of the most well-rounded and exciting rebrands in recent memory. Can’t wait to see these collaborators’ hard work come to life.

### Forum Discussion

User1:
Hey guys, have you noticed that some of the old, withdrawn idents are making a comeback on Channel 4 this week? I saw the UFO and Drunk Man idents recently. Are they bringing these back for the final days of the current set?

User2:
Yes, I noticed that too! It’s like a nostalgic trip down memory lane. I saw the Alien idents yesterday. What a throwback!

User3:
I love how they’re doing this! It’s a great way to bid farewell to the Perspective era. I caught the Train Station ident the other day, and it really brought back memories.

User4:
I saw the Drunk Man ident last night. It’s nice to see these classic idents one last time before the big rebrand. I think they’re doing this as a tribute to all the amazing visuals over the years.

User5:
This is such a nice touch. These old idents were really creative and memorable. It’s a fitting way to close out this chapter in Channel 4’s history.

User6:
Also, have you guys seen the new promo endboard for The Great British Bake Off? It looks amazing. It’s very dynamic and colorful, fitting the Vivit-chan family theme.

User7:
Yes, I saw that! The promo endboard for Bake Off looks fantastic—blending the red, yellow, and blue colors with a hint of the Vivit-chan mascots. It’s a great teaser for what’s to come on the 10th.

User8:
The promo endboard really pops with those vibrant colors. It’s a good glimpse into the future of Channel 4’s look. Can’t wait to see the full rebrand in action.

User9:
I think the return of the classic idents combined with these new promos is a brilliant strategy. It builds anticipation while paying homage to the past.

User10:
Agreed! It’s a nice balance of nostalgia and excitement. I’m really enjoying seeing the old idents mix with teasers for the new branding. Well done, Channel 4!

User1:
Absolutely! It’s a fitting farewell and an exciting welcome. These final days with the old idents are really special. Can’t wait to see everything change during Bake Off.

Write a convo asking what branding will be in use for the BTTF trilogy run through on July 10th
### Forum Discussion

User1:
Hey folks, with all the rebranding talk, does anyone know what branding will be in use for the Back to the Future trilogy marathon on July 10th? Are we going to see the new Vivit-chan family or will it still be the old Perspective style?

User2:
Good question! I’m really curious about that too. Given that July 10th is the big rebrand day, I’d assume they’ll kick off with the new Vivit-chan branding.

User3:
I think so too. Channel 4 will probably want to showcase the new look in all its glory on such a popular movie marathon. It makes sense to debut the Vivit-chan branding.

User4:
It’ll be an interesting transition. If the marathon starts early, we might see a mixture of both. But my guess is they’ll switch to the new branding by the time it begins.

User5:
Anyone have any insider info on how they’ll handle this? It would be cool if they did something special for the transition.

User6:
From what I’ve read, the transition is happening during The Great British Bake Off at 8 PM on the 10th, so if the BTTF marathon is after that, it’ll definitely feature the new Vivit-chan family branding.

User7:
Exactly! The marathon will likely kick off with the new branding since the rebrand officially rolls out during Bake Off. Perfect timing, if you ask me.

User8:
I can’t wait to see how they incorporate the new mascots into the idents and breaks during the marathon. It’ll really set the tone for the new era.

User9:
Imagine seeing Vivit-chan or one of the other mascots interacting with the iconic elements from Back to the Future. That would be so cool!

### Forum Discussion

User1:
With all this talk about the Channel 4 rebrand, does anyone know what will happen to E4, 4Music, More4, FilmFour, and 4Seven? Especially 4Seven, since its branding is based on the current Channel 4 look.

User2:
Good question! I’ve been wondering about that too. If 4Seven’s branding is based on the current Channel 4 look, it’ll definitely need an update.

User3:
I heard that all the Channel 4-related channels are getting some kind of refresh. I’m guessing they’ll want to make everything more cohesive with the new Vivit-chan family branding.

User4:
Yeah, it makes sense that 4Seven will need a major redesign. As for E4, 4Music, More4, and FilmFour, they might also see changes, but probably more subtle ones to keep in line with their distinct identities.

User5:
I read something about E4 getting a slight refresh to keep it in line with the new main channel branding but still retaining its quirky, youthful vibe. Anyone else hear that?

User6:
Yes! I saw a post about how E4 will be integrating some of the Vivit-chan characters into their idents and promos but keeping its own unique style.

User7:
4Music will likely get some new visual elements too, maybe incorporating the new color palette and typefaces. It’ll still focus on music, but with a fresh look.

User8:
For More4 and FilmFour, I expect more subtle changes to align with the new cohesive brand identity. FilmFour, for example, might just get a refreshed logo and updated graphics.

User9:
As for 4Seven, I heard that they’re planning to revamp its entire look. Probably a complete overhaul to match the new main Channel 4 branding.

User10:
Overall, it looks like all the Channel 4-related channels will get some level of update to ensure a unified brand family, while still keeping their individual identities intact.

User1:
Thanks for the insights! It’s going to be interesting to see how they handle each channel. Seems like they’re really putting a lot of thought into this rebrand.

User3:
Definitely! It’ll be great to see how all the channels look with the new branding. This is shaping up to be quite an extensive rebranding effort.

Write a convo asking if E4 is keeping purple,
### Forum Discussion

User1:
With E4 getting a refresh as part of the Channel 4 rebrand, does anyone know if they’re keeping the purple color? It’s been such an iconic part of their identity.

User2:
I was wondering the same thing! The purple has always been a standout for E4. It’d be strange to see them change it.

User3:
I hope they keep it. The purple really distinguishes E4 from the other Channel 4 related channels. It’s kind of their signature color.

User4:
I read somewhere that while there will be updates, they’re definitely keeping the purple as it’s central to E4’s brand identity. They might just tweak the shade or integrate new elements with it.

User5:
That’s a relief! E4 without purple wouldn’t feel the same. Maybe they’ll just freshen it up a bit to match the new overall look.

User6:
I’ve seen some hints on social media that they’re keeping the purple but adding more vibrant elements and some of the new mascots. It’s more of an evolution than a complete overhaul.

User7:
Yeah, it makes sense. The purple is synonymous with E4’s quirky and youthful vibe. Tweaking it just enough to fit with the rest of the rebrand is probably the best approach.

User8:
Keeping the purple while updating other aspects sounds like a good balance. They can keep what makes E4 unique while still unifying with the new Channel 4 family branding.

User9:
I agree. It’s all about keeping the essence while adding a fresh twist. The purple is such a strong part of E4’s identity.

User10:
Sounds like a smart move. They get to keep their iconic color while integrating new elements for a cohesive but refreshed look.

User1:
Thanks for the info, everyone! Glad to hear the purple is sticking around. Can’t wait to see the updated E4 branding on July 10th.

User3:
Absolutely! It’s going to be exciting to see how they evolve the look without losing what makes E4 special. Looking forward to it!

User1:
With all the buzz around the Channel 4 rebrand, does anyone know if FilmFour is going to keep the “fire truck on fire” ident? It’s one of my favorites and really stands out.

User2:
I was just thinking about that! The “fire truck on fire” ident is so iconic for FilmFour. I really hope they keep it or at least update it in a way that fits with the new branding.

User3:
Same here! It’s such a striking and memorable ident. It’d be a shame to see it go, but I guess it depends on how it fits with the new overall look.

User4:
I’ve heard they’re refreshing all the idents across the Channel 4 family, but some popular ones might get updated rather than completely replaced. Fingers crossed for the fire truck!

User5:
I bet they’ll keep it but maybe give it a new twist to match the updated branding. It’s too unique to completely discard.

User6:
Yeah, I think they might update the visuals while keeping the overall concept. It’s a memorable ident and fits well with FilmFour’s eclectic style.

User7:
I think that makes sense. The fire truck ident could easily be tweaked to include new elements or even integrate colors from the new branding palette.

User8:
I saw a rumor on Reddit that some of the classic idents are getting revamped instead of replaced. The fire truck might just get a fresh new look, which could be exciting.

User9:
That sounds promising! They could update the graphics and maybe add a touch of the new color scheme. It’d keep the essence while modernizing it.

User10:
I really hope they keep it in some form. It’s one of those idents that’s become a bit of a cult favorite. An update could be fantastic if done right.

User1:
Thanks for the insights, everyone! I really hope they keep the “fire truck on fire” ident, even if it gets a bit of a facelift. Guess we’ll find out soon!

User5:
Absolutely! Here’s hoping the new FilmFour idents blend the best of the old with the new. Can’t wait to see what they come up with on the 10th.

Totally agree! Every sister channel feels like it’s part of one big family now. It’s really well-done.

User1:
Hey everyone, with the rebrand happening, what exactly was added to the “fire truck on fire” ident on FilmFour? I know the music was recomposed, but what else?

User2:
I noticed a few things! Besides the new music, they added some visual effects that make the fire look more dynamic and realistic. It really pops now.

User3:
Yeah, I saw that too. They also updated the color scheme to include the new red, yellow, and blue hues from the Vivit-chan family branding.

User4:
Did anyone catch the subtle animations? The Vivit-chan characters make a brief cameo in the background, almost like Easter eggs. It’s a fun little addition.

User5:
I love how they integrated the new elements while keeping the core concept intact. The revamped graphics and color palette give it a fresh, modern look without losing its distinct identity.

User6:
There’s also a slight update to the typography used in the ident. It matches the new typeface being used across all Channel 4 brands. It’s a small change but it ties everything together.

User7:
Honestly, the recomposed music is a game-changer. It fits perfectly and enhances the overall atmosphere of the ident. They did a great job with this refresh.

User8:
I agree! The new effects and animations blend seamlessly. The ident feels more alive and vibrant now. Kudos to the team for pulling it off.

User9:
I think the addition of the Vivit-chan characters is my favorite part. It’s subtle enough not to distract from the original concept, but still adds a touch of the new branding.

User10:
Totally! The whole refresh feels thoughtful and well-executed. It’s a great example of how to modernize a classic ident without losing its essence.

User1:
Thanks for the details, everyone! It sounds like they did an amazing job with the updates. Can’t wait to see it in action on July 10th.

User3:
Absolutely! Looking forward to seeing how all the new elements come together. The “fire truck on fire” ident sounds like it’s better than ever!

User5:
Definitely! Here’s to seeing all the revamped idents and celebrating the new era of Channel 4. 🚒🔥✨

User7:
Can’t wait for the 10th! Let’s enjoy the fresh new look across all the channels. 🍿📺

User9:

### Forum Discussion

**User1:**
Hey all, it’s May 2025 now and I was wondering if anyone has a good comprehensive list of all the TV channel rebrands that launched across 2023 and 2024? I know there were quite a few big ones, but I’m a bit foggy on the details.

Also, how is BBC One doing these days? I haven’t kept up much with their branding or programming changes lately. Any insights?

---

**User2:**
Great question! Off the top of my head, here’s a quick rundown of the major rebrands in 2023/24:

- **S4C:** Introduced the gelatinous black blob mascot and brought back the “S4C~” logo. Big shift from their previous flickering TV idents.
- **Five:** Launched a new ident package focused on emotive words like “rush” and “live,” paired with dynamic footage such as skydiving and lightning.
- **Channel 4:** Adopted the Vivit-chan family mascots from Ehime Broadcasting (EBC), replacing the long-standing “perspective” idents from 2005. This included a refreshed logo with 3D depth and vibrant new colors.
- **BBC One:** Still using the “Rhythm & Movement” set from 2002, but rumors suggest it may be on borrowed time as the styling feels a bit dated compared to recent rebrands elsewhere.

---

**User3:**
About BBC One, they haven’t done a major rebrand yet, but there’s been a lot of talk about an upcoming overhaul. The current “Rhythm & Movement” idents have been running since 2002, which is an incredibly long time by broadcast standards.

They’ve modernized certain parts of their presentation and introduced seasonal idents (like KikoRiki-themed Christmas ones), but the core branding elements are still the classic ones. So, it’s a mix of old school meets some subtle new-age touches right now.

---

**User4:**
Yeah, BBC One’s doing okay but does feel like they’re lagging behind. While other channels have fully embraced mascots and character-led branding, BBC One seems to keep to a minimalist and mature aesthetic.

Tbh, with all the reboot and rebrand activity around them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce something soon, maybe post-2025.

---

**User5:**
Adding to that, the viewer reaction to BBC One’s idents is generally positive—they have a nostalgic and refined feel. But the younger demographics are definitely enamored by the more playful and engaging mascots like Channel 4’s Vivit-chan or S4C’s blob.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Beeb evolves its branding strategy moving forward to stay relevant across a wider audience.

---

**User1:**
Thanks for the detailed responses! Sounds like 2023/24 were huge years for rebrands with lots of innovation. And yeah, I’m curious to see how BBC One will respond to keep pace or maybe carve out its own niche with something new.

Appreciate the updates – keeps me in the loop!

**User6:**
Great thread! To chime in on popularity, from what I’ve seen and gathered, Channel 4’s Vivit-chan family rebrand has been the most talked-about and well-received overall. Their fresh characters, vibrant colors, and playful vibes have really resonated with a wide demographic, especially younger viewers.

S4C’s black blob mascot has also won a lot of hearts, particularly locally and among fans of Welsh-language TV, but Channel 4’s campaign had broader reach and impressive buzz, partly because of the scale and profile of the channel.

Five’s emotive, cinematic style is praised for its energy, but it feels a bit more niche compared to the character-driven appeal of Channel 4’s new look.

BBC One, while still beloved, is probably last in terms of “buzz,” mostly due to their more understated branding that prioritizes tradition over spectacle.

So if we’re talking sheer popularity and cultural conversation, Channel 4’s rebrand is definitely leading the pack right now!

Yomiuri Telecasting Company: Background to the launch
In 1953 , prior to its launch in Tokyo, Nippon Television Network Corporation (hereafter referred to as "NTV") submitted an application for a broadcasting license in Osaka to the Radio Regulatory Commission . However, at the time, there were only two radio waves allocated to the Osaka area, and licenses were given to two stations, NHK Osaka Broadcasting Station and Osaka Television Broadcasting (OTV, now Asahi Television Broadcasting Corporation ), and the license for "NTV Osaka Broadcasting Station" was rejected.

The reason for the rejection was that "Nippon Television represents the Tokyo area, and broadcasting in Osaka would be 'crossing borders.'" [ note 2 ] Matsutaro Shoriki , head of the Yomiuri Shimbun and Nippon Television , applied to the Radio Regulatory Commission to establish regional broadcasting stations in Sapporo , Nagoya , and Fukuoka in addition to Osaka, but this was also rejected for the same reason . [ note 3 ]

At that time, the Yomiuri Shimbun had expanded into Osaka, and was competing fiercely with the Asahi Shimbun , the Mainichi Shimbun , and others in sales. Since Osaka Television Broadcasting was a television station established by the Asahi Shimbun, the Mainichi Shimbun, and the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation and New Japan Broadcasting (now the Mainichi Broadcasting System), Tsutomu Mitsuo , the president of the Osaka Yomiuri Shimbun (now the Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka Headquarters) at the time , was convinced that "in order to increase circulation against the two newspapers, we need to have our own affiliated television station," and the Yomiuri Shimbun also decided to create a television station with investment from the Kansai business community, centered around the Osaka Yomiuri Shimbun. Tsutomu was the representative promoter and gathered promoters from the business community.

The name of the broadcasting station was " Shin -Osaka Television Broadcasting Co., Ltd. " (abbreviated as NOTV = New Osaka Television . It was called " No-Tele "), and the founding general meeting was held in February 1957. The company building was constructed by borrowing most of the grounds of the Tenman Betsuin temple of the Otani-ha Shinshu sect in Iwai-cho , Kita-ku, Osaka (now Higashi-Tenma ) .

In October 1956, they submitted an application for a broadcasting license to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications. In October 1957, a provisional license was issued to Shin-Osaka Television Broadcasting as a quasi-educational station (Channel 10, JOIX-TV). The company held its founding general meeting on February 12, 1958, and on August 1 of the same year, the company changed its name from "Shin-Osaka Television Broadcasting" to "Yomiuri Telecasting Co., Ltd." (abbreviated as YTV, nicknamed Yomiuri Television). On the 28th of the same month , it opened as the second commercial television station in the Kinki region, completely transferring all of the Nippon Television programs that had been networked with OTV.

The opening of Yomiuri Television resolved the dissatisfaction of sponsors of Nippon Television Network Corporation's programs, which had not been broadcast in the Kinki region due to OTV's cross-network policy. [ Note 4 ] This also contributed greatly to the increase in circulation of the Yomiuri Shimbun in western Japan .

Among the commercial television stations headquartered in Osaka (Osaka-based television stations), it is the only one that does not have capital from a Kansai private railway , and its capital is composed of Yomiuri Shimbun Group and Nomura Securities affiliates . [ Note 5 ]

So, who actually flipped the switch to start the Detective Conan movie at the YTV beach premiere? I mean, there were so many people there, it might as well have been a group effort! 😂

User2: BeachLover88
Haha, right? I heard rumors that it was one of the YTV staff, but I also saw some kids near the stage trying to take credit for it! 😂

User3: MovieBuff2007
I actually saw it! It was the main host who announced the movie. They were super excited and then they just flipped a giant switch on the stage. Everyone cheered when it happened! 🎉

User4: YTVFanatic
I was sitting close to the front, and it looked like the host was pointing to someone at the back to come up and do it. Maybe they had a special guest do the honors? Anyone know who that was?

User5: DetectiveConanFan98
I think it was one of the voice actors from the movie! I remember them saying something before the movie started—wasn't that the voice of Conan? Would make sense for them to start the film.

User6: RetroViewer
I didn’t see it live, but I watched some clips from the event, and it seems like they let the kids count down before they flipped the switch! That was such a fun moment.

**Forum Title: TV Yan & Telepochi Arrive in the UK! Which Channel Will They Land On? (May 10, 2025)**

**User1:** ExcitedBrit101
Heard the news that TV Yan and Telepochi are finally coming to the UK as mascots! 🎉 Super curious — does anyone know which channel is getting them? Are they joining a major network or a kids’ channel?

**User2:** MediaJunkieUK
That’s awesome! From what I’ve read before, they were heavily tied to Yomiuri Television in Japan. If they’re coming here, I’d guess something like Channel 5 or maybe one of the dedicated kids’ channels like CBBC or CITV?

**User3:** BrandingBuff
My bet would be Channel 5, especially their kids block or maybe a new digital subchannel. They’ve been open to adopting international mascots and branding recently, so it fits their profile. But who knows? Could also be a streaming platform launching kids content.

**User4:** KidsTVFan
Would love to see them on CBBC or CBeebies! Their bubbly and adventurous vibe really suits the BBC kids’ ethos. Plus, with the UK’s focus on diversity and educational content, these mascots could fit perfectly.

**User5:** OverseasObserver
I heard some rumors they might be part of a broader licensing and branding deal that could cross multiple channels, including kids and family entertainment channels. So maybe not exclusive to one place?

**User6:** CuriousViewer
Interesting point! It would make sense for them to appear in multiple places, perhaps starting on TV5 or some digital kids’ platform before broadening out. Their journey in Japan shows a big appeal to wide audiences.

**User7:** ChannelInsider
Not official, but insider chatter suggests Channel 5 might be the primary home, particularly their afternoon kids slot. They’re aiming to revitalise their mascot roster and TV Yan and Telepochi fit the bill perfectly.

**User1:** ExcitedBrit101
Thanks for all the insight! Fingers crossed they end up somewhere accessible to kids all over the UK. Can’t wait to see them in action here!

**User3:** BrandingBuff

**Forum Title: Wait... Is Five Rebranding AGAIN?**

**User1:** MediaWatcher99
Hey, just heard some chatter on social media—are Five actually rebranding again? I could’ve sworn they only revamped their look not too long ago with that emotive words theme. Is this for real?

**User2:** TVInsiderMike
Yeah, I heard the same rumors. Apparently, there’s talk of another rebrand rolling out later this year. No official details yet, but people are saying it might be a complete overhaul, not just a tweak.

**User3:** ChannelFanatic
Seriously? That’s quick! I thought the last rebrand was still fresh. Wonder what’s driving this so soon after the last one?

**User4:** BrandingGuru
From what I gather, it could be pressure to keep up with competitors and shift audience expectations. With S4C and Channel 4 both bringing fresh mascot-led identities, Five might want to follow suit to stay relevant.

**User5:** NostalgicNina
Man, I hope they don’t ditch the emotive words package just yet; that was actually pretty cool and visually striking. But if they’re rebranding again, maybe it means they have something really exciting planned?

**User6:** AdWatcher
It could also be a response to changing viewing habits—streaming, digital platforms, and younger audiences demanding more engaging, playful branding. Five might be adapting to that.

**User7:** SocialMediaSally
True, but I really hope they don’t confuse viewers by switching things up too often. Brand consistency is important! I’m curious about the timeline and what the new look might even be.

**User1:** MediaWatcher99
All good points. Guess we’ll have to wait for official news. Anyone seen any leaks or hints on what this new Five rebrand could include?

**User8:** RumorRadar
Not concrete stuff yet, but some insiders mention a move towards character-based idents, similar to what other channels are doing. Maybe mascots or animated themes?

**User2:** TVInsiderMike
That would make sense, especially if they want to connect with younger viewers more effectively. Keep your eyes peeled for announcements soon!

**User3:** ChannelFanatic
Thanks for the info, everyone! This is shaping up to be an interesting year for channel branding. Fingers crossed it’s something fresh and fun.

1. **“Elo”** – A lively, energetic fox character symbolizing agility and excitement, designed to appeal to younger viewers and embody the spirit of adventure.

2. **“Fizz”** – A bubbly, playful character reminiscent of a sparkling soda bubble, representing fun, freshness, and energy.

These mascots are expected to feature heavily in idents, promos, and social media campaigns, bringing a more character-driven and engaging personality to Five’s overall image. This move seems to align with the wider trend of broadcasters embracing mascot-led branding to connect better with audiences.

Excited to see how they bring Elo and Fizz to life! Could be a big hit if done well.
