Trường Đ ại học Thủ đô Hà N ội (tiếng Anh : Hanoi Metropolitan University ) là trư ờng đ ại học công l ập 
đầu tiên do UBND thành ph ố Hà N ội trực tiếp qu ản lý thành l ập ngày 31 tháng 12 năm 2014.   
Lịch sử hình thành   
Ngày 31/12/2014 Th ủ tướng Chính ph ủ đã kí Quy ết định thành l ập Trư ờng Đ ại học Thủ đô Hà N ội trên 
cơ sở nâng c ấp Trư ờng Cao đ ẳng Sư ph ạm Hà N ội.[1][2]  
Năm h ọc đầu tiên c ủa trư ờng (1959 -1960) có 05 l ớp đào t ạo giáo viên c ấp I, h ệ 7+1 và 05 l ớp bồi dưỡng 
giáo viên c ấp I toàn c ấp, 02 l ớp đào t ạo giáo viên c ấp II (01 l ớp Tự nhiên, 01 l ớp Xã h ội), đầu vào là h ọc 
sinh đã h ọc xong l ớp 10/10 ph ổ thông. Năm h ọc 1962 – 1963, B ộ Giáo d ục cho phép trư ờng đào t ạo thí 
điểm giáo viên c ấp II h ệ 10+1 v ới đầu vào là h ọc sinh t ốt nghi ệp lớp 10 ph ổ thông (h ệ phổ thông 10 
năm). S ố lượng đào t ạo khóa đ ầu là 150 sinh viên đư ợc chia làm ba ban: Văn – Sử, Toán – Lí, Hóa – Sinh 
– Địa. Cùng v ới việc đào t ạo chính quy, Trư ờng m ở hệ đào t ạo giáo viên c ấp II t ại chức hệ 7+2 cho các 
giáo viên c ấp I lên trình đ ộ Sư ph ạm trung c ấp. Ngoài ra, Trư ờng m ở 2 lớp bồi dưỡng Hi ệu trư ởng cấp I 
có trình đ ộ tương đương giáo viên c ấp II. K ết thúc năm h ọc 1962 – 1963, Trư ờng ch ấm dứt tuy ển sinh 
cho h ệ đào t ạo 7+2, chuy ển hoàn toàn sang h ệ đào t ạo 10+1.   
Ngày 26/12/2016, UBND Thành ph ố Hà N ội đã có quy ết định sáp nh ập Trư ờng TC Kinh t ế – Kĩ thu ật đa 
ngành Sóc Sơn vào Trư ờng ĐH Th ủ đô Hà N ội. Trư ờng ĐH Th ủ đô Hà N ội trở thành trư ờng tổ chức đào 
tạo, bồi dưỡng ngu ồn nhân l ực đa ngành, đa lĩnh v ực có trình đ ộ cao đ ẳng, đ ại học, trên đ ại học tổ chức 
các ho ạt động giáo d ục ngh ề nghi ệp theo nhu c ầu xã h ội và các ho ạt động nghiên c ứu khoa h ọc, ứng 
dụng ti ến bộ khoa h ọc công ngh ệ phục vụ công tác đào t ạo phát tri ển Nhà trư ờng theo m ục tiêu xác 
định, đúng quy đ ịnh c ủa pháp lu ật.[3]
